Southern California Nursing Jobs

Hi all,
I'm a relatively new nurse (1 year in), currently working on a telemetry floor and looking to relocate to the Long Beach area when my boyfriend moves there in January. I've been considering applying to hospitals like Loma Linda or even in Corona or even out into Temecula area, as well as Long Beach. I'm not from Southern California and I have no idea how hard it will be for me to get a job there, how far out from Long Beach I need to look, if there are hospitals that are always in need of nurses, etc. I work in Fresno now. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

If you have a year of experience, leave your job on good terms, and already have a California license, you should be able to find a job fairly easy. You may not find a lot of interest this far out from your availability date, though.

I'm not sure how the traffic is in Fresno, but it's bad here ...look for something very close to where you'll be living.

You will absolutely not want to commute into Corona, Riverside, Temecula from Long Beach. There are tons of hospitals in the LA and OC area that always have openings. Agreeing with Sour Lemon, traffic is horrendous so you will want to live closer to where your job is. Good luck!

Places like Corona and Temecula are way too far to commute to from Long Beach, especially with LA traffic. Do your research, there are tons of hospitals in Long Beach, Orange County, and Los Angeles that are commutable. There's Long Beach Memorial, St Mary's of Long Beach, Kaiser Permamente (Long Beach, Irvine, and Los Angeles), Millers Children's Hospital, UCI, UCLA, UCLA Hatbor county hospital, California Hospital, USC LAC medical center. I could go on but you get the point. Also remember the job market is saturated out here so I would start applying sooner rather than later. But I agree with pp, you shouldn't have a problem getting a job since you have experience. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone!! Really don't have a good idea of hospitals and such (or traffic, really, though of course I hear it is bad) in the area, so I really appreciate all the input. :) I figure I should give myself 1-2 months to find a job so that I'm not scrambling last minute! Thanks all!!
