MUSC ABSN Spring 2015

U.S.A. South Carolina

Hi everyone!!!

I wanted to go ahead and make a thread for MUSC's Spring 2015 hopefuls. I know it is a little bit early to start this thread, but I am just so excited. I am looking forward to everyone stats and encouragement for each other. Looking forward to the results!!!

dreamMUSC, your GPA sounds awesome. I didn't make an A in micro though haha. The hardest part was the chapter on viruses...ugh!

good luck in finishing up for your degree!

I'm in MB also!!! Who did you submit your resume to for review? I have had my transcripts evaluated but would also like for someone to look at my resume.

Hey Jessicnw! Ok so I emailed the lady who reviewed my transcripts! She told me my resume would get the full 3 points and I didn't have to add any volunteer work because it wouldn't help. I work a lot and have little ones so I was worried about spreading myself to thin. They give you points for each thing they evaluate. All you have to do is ask!! Where at in Mb?

It was bittersweet! I was glad that I had that reassurance but MUSC is a completely different ballpark. I hope that my accomplishments will be sufficient. The competition is so diverse that you just never know. That essay was HARD, once I got rolling good I had to stop. (95 words also) What exactly is a CV?

hey! Thanks! I am not to worried about micro I've pretty much taken the whole course before but I had to drop it. So hopefully I can do it. I have my second child on the way. So as long as I can make it through that with school I'll be ok! I really think you will get in btw!

Sorry I didn't hit reply lol

Yessssss girl. It's good to know you have options!! You can pick and choose where you want to go. I'm pretty sure if you were good enough for an ADN you are good enough for the BSN with MUSC! A CV = curriculum vitae. It's an extended version of a resume. I opted to do it because a CV isn't limited to 1 page, plus I have a few experiences that I wanted to highlight so I thought a CV would be better for me.

Hmm...I was told that some people are denied because of a lack of work/volunteer experience.

Once she evaluated my transcript, I was told that although she never guesses at acceptance, my application would receive the full attention of the committee. I will email her my resume tomorrow for her to review

Thanks, I hope so too! OMGsh I kinda have baby fever right now too LOL. I already have one son, he is 2 and quite a handful. I don't want to wait until i'm too old butttt.....I don't want to underestimate how difficult nursing school can be. And if I get in, I think I want to keep going to get my DNP... How close is your baby's due date?

I got accepted but passed up my seat. I would have started this fall. The ADN program alone is 5 semesters whereas the ABSN program is only 16 months. For roughly the same amount of time I rather have the BSN, especially being that I want to become a CRNA. I took a HUGE step on faith and I'm hoping it works out in my favor.

I think I will research that and possibly do one as well. I was struggling to get everything on one page so it's good to know that I have another option. I have little clinical experience so I want to amplify myself in other areas.

Yes but I have shadowing, it's kind of an internship where you just observe, it counts for volunteering.

I emailed her first and asked her if she would mind reviewing my resume. She said she didn't mind. So I just emailed it to her. She wouldn't give me any odds of getting in but she did say my resume would fulfill the 3 PTA for volunteering.

I was looking into CRNA too BUT....I HATE chemistry....I just can't get past it lol. I BARELY got through organic!! But yes some of the doctors that I work with have like 29 pages for their CV!! So yes if you have a lot of things you want to highlight, use a CV instead of a resume. Don't sell yourself short!
