Soon to be new grad, need help with resume please!

Published

I am posting this because I have started working on my resume and cover letter and need some help. I will be graduating in May with my BSN and I am interested in relocating to Florida from Ohio. I am interested in critical care as I am precepting in a CMICU currently. Some of my concerns were if I should list the clinicals I have completed in the resume? Also I am a little stumped about starting the whole resume out because I have not yet graduated or passed boards obviously. I have a good GPA and was wondering if this should be included in the resume? Any tips on an objective section? If anyone has any pointers or examples of resumes for a soon to be graduate nurse this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Ditch the objective. Your objective is to find a RN job. Everyone knows that. :) You want the job you're applying for. Got it.

For your clinicals, I would post the hospital, unit and amount of hours. No need to post more than that. I would list where you are precepting, and when you get close to finishing, detail out what you've been doing and hours completed.

List your school and put "anticipated graduation May 2015".

Even if you're not applying for jobs yet, there's no harm in building your resume now. What other work experience do you have? If you want, you can always post your resume here. Just be sure to remove any identifying information, hospital names, email addresses, etc. :) That's really the best way for us to help you fine-tune everything.
