I just wanted to attest that tubes are the greatest thing in the world.

I had chronic ear infections as a baby/toddler - I got tubes placed at 18 months and my mother will tell you that it was the best decision she ever made.

When I was 22, in college - my ears began to bother me again . I had tubes placed, and let me tell you it was the best thing ever! I actually still have them in - they have almost fallen out but its been 3 years. I got my use out of them.

After I got them placed I felt very groggy, as if I was in a tunnel. It lasted a few days then went away. Pain wise, I took one tylenol #3 and after that just some motrin or tylenol.

Your son will do beautifully with his surgery. Good luck!

My son had his 1st set of ear tubes at 11 months old after 8+ ear infections his 1st winter he did great not another ear infection until they fell out, he is prone to fluid behind his ear drums. He is now 7 and on his 4th set of tubes. Just be careful so that he doesn't get water in his ears after placement, my son did this summer after being on vacation and ended up with swimmers ear. Tube aren't fool proof so be sure to use ear plugs. I get my son's at walmart, they are reusable and come in a pack of 12? for about $3. Your child will do great!

Also...I think they may schedule the surgery earliest in the day because they can not have anything to eat or drink before. I know for us we were the earliest appointment. Do not worry about the anesthesia. My daughter had her tubes put in and my 1 year old had his testicle brought down all within the same week. It was crazy. Anyway they both had anesthesia and did very well.

Having a testicle brought down???!?!? OUCH!:uhoh21:
