Some info abt Cali NCLEX-RN passing result to NM BON

Published

hi everyone! this is my first time to post some message here.. i just wanna share some information that most of you might want to know.

i've been reading through the forums here for quite some time now for the reason that i'm also a california nclex-rn passer without ssn and i have 2 more years to go before they destroy my files hehe

just so i would know what to do when that time comes, i am now exploring my options as to which state board i will apply for licensure and have my nclex passing result sent to. one of the options was new mexico, but unfortunately this was the reply i got from them:

my inquiry:

"i have passed the nclex-rn exam under the california state

board, how can i apply for a license in your state when i don't have an

active license to endorse (due to lack of ssn)? thanks."

new mexico bon's reply:

"the board cannot license you by endorsement as you are not licensed in another state.

you have the option of applying by examination and taking the exam again

for new mexico if you so choose. you can read the application

instructions and requirements that are needed for the new mexico board."

my reply:

"is it possible that i apply by examination and have my nclex-rn result from california be sent to your board? i don't understand why i have to take the exam again when i have passed it already. i also hold a visascreen certificate which was issued by cgfns."

new mexico bon's reply:

"no it is not possible. you have the three options that is to get your social security number so that california can license you or you opt to take the exam again for new mexico. you can also check into other states to see what is required by those different boards. "

just fyi guys :D it's just a bit weird that they're requiring me to take the nclex again if i chose to be licensed in nm hmmmm

does anyone of you know other state bon's that will allow the nclex pass result be sent to them for licensure other than vermont?

thanks!

Hi Dave. Can you tell me how you guys did it? When did u guys apply in Vermont and have your passing result sent to their BON? Because I was told that things change all the time with these state boards. I have 2 more years to go with my CA application.

Oh and one more thing. Validity of VT license is only good for 1 year right? What will happen once it expires? I believe one needs an SSN to be able to RENEW?

imm also an nclex passer in ca but don't have my license yet due to lack of ssn.....

VT license is valid for maximum of two years, but depending on when you apply and the time of the cycle that they are in, the license can be valid for only a period of months.

There is no reason to do anything now if you still have two years on your letter, makes no sense to pay several times for the VT license when it is not going to be used.

This thread has now gotten off topic, the purpose of it was discussing getting licensed in NM. It makes is hard for others to follow when the topic gets changed.

Please stick to the topic being discussed. There are already several threads that have been created giving specifics as to what is needed when applying to another state to obtain a license before the letter expires. Please refer to that. The endorsement of a license means that one exists in another state, and since CA does not issue a license, that application should not be used. VT has the right to return everything to you if the proper forms are not used.

One of our co-members here, fruity already made a thread about that. You may use the search option to search for it or search all of fruity's posts to search that particular thread she made.

However, Suzanne is right. You still have 2 years to go and even a possibility of a 1 year extension that CA BRN may grant, so it would be in the best of your interest to wait until you are at the last months of your actual deadline. Most States only have 2 year expirations at most or uses the renewal system of every even years.

There have been many instances that the license they have endorsed to expired first even before the 3 yr deadline from CA BRN expired.

This is of course, with regards to VT. As far as FL, you need to ask them now because of the issue regarding the 2 years experience they are requiring if endorsing to them. You need to clarify that with them directly, so that you'll know your options and so that you won't blame anyone for wrong advice or something.

Good luck.
