Yeah I skipped class, so what. It was a nice day outside. If I hear one more thing about a freaking kidney or creatine, I think I might explode!!!
Well that's how I felt until today in lab class...
I walked into lab an hour late thinking about how wonderful and sneaky I was for skipping class...................WRONG! The night I decided to skip was the night that he gives out a 100pt in-class assignment.
My teacher pulled me to the side and asked why I was not in class. I quickly told him a 1/2 lie about how my toddler was sick(he really was) and how I didn't have anyone to watch him(lie)(this is a classic lie, it goes along with "my dog ate my homework"). He gave me an evil smile and told me to go in the next room to take this quiz. On top of my quiz he left me a little special note stating "Do not ramble on with BS because of lack of knowledge, I will ultimately give you a zero and it will make my grading easier." With this in mind I only put down what I actually knew and placed it on his desk without him looking. I went back to lab feeling really stupid and thinking about what I should say to him if he asked me why I didn't know the material. Let's just say that I dashed out the lab before he could talk to me.
As of April 1st, I Brynn will study and try to go to class. I will quit my lazy ways and to stop acting like everything will come easily for me!
Another thing is that my teacher has 2 diff. lectures and that we are allowed to "class hop" My class (Fri. night) is ahead of the (MWF) class. you will still be able to do the same PRS questions. The morning class is always coming to the night lecture when they don't feel like getting up 8 in the morning.
Also, our teacher gives us our lecture notes and does a streaming video of his lectures.
Like I said before this is suppose to be kinda humorous!

He is a very nice teacher. He's not one of those teachers who wants his students to be afraid of him. He has a lovely sense of humor. He's very brilliant. If some of use guys look in the back of your textbook, you would probably see his name. He has numerous videos out and went to schools in CA, TX, MI, and currently in VA.
Ah, hang in there, your about to be finished at ODU (it is ODU right) and in nursing school at Sentara. So you skiped one class, no harm was done right.
You want to talk about serious. I had to drop A&P because I have been sick as a dog with the flu. I missed a test in lecture and 2 labs, which means I also missed 2 lab quizes. We can't make them up so thats 3 zeros which would have brought my grade down to about a big fat F. Now I have to take it again over the summer, which sucks, but its still better than ruining my GPA.
Of course now I'll have to do the 18 month program at Sentara insead of the 12 month program.(if I get in) Now that REALLY SUCKS big time!!! That means add another year to do the LPN to RN bridge which I wont be able to start until Aug of 2008 and wont be finished until 2009!Grrr....
And I'm still sick. I've only been able to work 12 hours in the past two weeks, geeze I hope I don't get fired.
Brynn, I'm glad you learned your lesson without any harm done- and before the nursing classes! There are many teachers who do not have a "sense of humor". Unfortunately, they are also the deciders of your fate! I had to learn my lesson early as well- I skipped a microbiology class and missed not only a surprise review for an upcoming test but also an extra credit assignment! It's a good thing my grades were pretty good in that class or else I'd still be kicking myself!
I didn't miss any of A&P 1, Micro I missed the very first day d/t my daughter's awards ceremony (3 academic awards & only had been at that school 1 semester), but I skipped just for the heck of it one night in A&P 2.
The lecture was on video & the lab was a complete joke. The instructor didn't even have any say so on how the class was ran. He'd get all bent out of shape & cuss because he didn't have a clue. He had to keep asking the lab aides what he could do. :uhoh3:
So, yeah, I skipped one night... I made an A in that class thanks to my taking pics to study the lab stuff from, and actually watching the videos.
Princess74 - Have you thought about taking the ELI classes through the community college? I just finished with NAS161 and NAS162 (anatomy, physiology and microbiology) through NVCC. The only time you need to come to class is a lab weekend in Annandale. The ELI classes are great. You take the exams when you are ready and the material for the tests is well prepared as well as the online lab exercises.

I just had to laugh at this. Then I read everyone else's posts and thought "oh, this is supposed to be serious. Not supposed to laugh."
You got lucky. Sometimes you need to play hookey just to keep sane. Just don't make a habit of it. You can only use that excuse that your kid was sick so many times.

this thread was suppose to be funny, don't feel crazy b/c you actually got the whole point of the story. no harm was done, the teacher doesn't hate me, and my grade was not effected b/c it wasn't a real quiz. (thought i write it big so that everyone would get the point)
the thing about me is that i am a funny person. i do everything in good humor if the timing and environment is right. it is impossible for me to be serious 24/7 that's why everybody likes to be around me!
