So where are RN jobs right now...

So, the job market is kind of falling off in Denver, CO... where I live now. But.... I can take a job in any of the RN compact states...

Where are the "hot," job markets right now... I just want to work! (Preferably nursing home, or hospitals that don't require recent hospital experience).

You may want to consider the Indian Health Service. You can work at any federal facility on any valid state license and there are multiple facilities not too terribly far (relatively speaking) from your current location in New Mexico and Arizona.

The apllication looks like a small phone book and it is a time consuming process (nothing happens in a hurry) but you may find it worthwhile.

San Antonio looks like it have plenty of nursing jobs. They are the second unhealthiest city in the US, with the highest BMI. An estimated 48% of the population has diabetes. There are several different hospital systems.

DEFINITELY. NOT. IN. UTAH.

Can you sense my frustration? I'm a new grad RN, have sent out countless resumes and cover letters, have had 2 nursing interviews which I called back and found out I didn't get the job because somebody else had experience, AND I can't even get hired as an MA because I'm "overqualified." So, no, don't waste your time on Utah. I'm beginning to think I'll just have to wait until my husband's job moves us before I can work.

Just wanted to add this - I was just looking at one of my nursing magazines which advertised a new hospital opening "soon" in Miami-Dade county in Florida. It's a Baptist Health South hospital and specifically said "all levels of experience".

FL is not a compact state, but if it is not yet open this should give time to apply for endorsement in FL.

I am a new grad RN and was recently hired in San Angelo, Texas (I moved here from MD). My friend, who I went to nursing school with and is also a new grad, is getting ready to interview here as well, and may potentially move here since there is nothing in the MD/DC/VA area.

I found this ironic since so many new grads have moved to the DC metro area from the midwest for jobs. Jobs may seem slim in the DC area, but they are worse in the midwest. WHC and CNMC have been hiring big batches of new grads still.
