i should be on top of the world right now,but i'm not. i finished nursing school in july, got married 8 days later and is going on my relaxing honeymoon that starts tomorrow.
to make a long story short: i took my hesi exam and recieved a 772 and the passing score is 850, thus until i go to the remedial courses and take the hesi exam again i won't be able to sit for nclex. i have no problem taking the remedial courses and re-doing the hesi... as a matter a fact the remedial courses are a big help and i don' t mind going at all. now here's the kicker... we are required to attend 5 sessions for remediation and if we miss one session we won't be able to retake the hesi and would have to wait until december to re-take the courses and the hesi, thus i may not be able to take the nclex until december.
i'm so crushed about this... first all of no one told us to study for the hesi, we were told not to study and that this exam is basically an assessment. if only i would of known it would put me back, i would of studied my butt off. secondly, we have to go to these mandatory review sessions that we just found out about and there is no way i can attend all the sessions due to me being on my honey moon. our honey moon was booked seven months ago and i really don't want to miss it. anyway, hopefully something good will come out of all of this. i just wanted to vent.

well first off congrats to you for graduating nursing school and for getting married! i wish you nothing but love & prosperity:redpinkhe
i'm so sorry to hear that you didn't do well on the hesi test:( i'm sure had they told you to study, that you would have done much better. unfortunately, it seems your school isn't the only one that is giving this test without informing students that it will be held against them.
i know that it's easier said than done but girl you just got married and you are about to go on your honeymoon! take some long needed time off and then come back, regroup and study study study. i'm not trying to be insensitive. i understand how hurt you are to have gone through pre reqs and then nursing school-then this happens. will hospitals in your area allow you to work as an rn until you sit for nclex in december? it's worth looking into. vent away-but at the same time i'm so happy for you because this is a joyous occasion-your joyous occasion. push that to the back of your mind for a moment and then come back and be on that test like white on rice! you can do it-it'll be here before you know it.
