So if you finish at 265 with an easy or hard question....

I read in the kaplan course book that if you reach 265 questions and the last question is below the level of difficulty needed to pass, the candidate fails and if the last question is above the level of difficulty needed to pass, the candidate passes.

Soooo does this mean if the last question was easy, means fail and if the last question was hard, means pass??

Someone help me understand. THANKS!!

How would one know whether it is an easy question or not?

If 5 atleast last questions are SATA , prioritization -who would you see first those , pharmacology questions are passing level then you would know that you passed. Base on my experienced. Some folks i have spoken that reached 265 their last questions are like nutrition topic or lab values basically the questions that answers can be memorized.:)

Those last questions which Answers can be memorized such as nutrition, lab values, basic nursing questions are not guaranteed as above passing level which could means you failed:(

you just can't tell, the last question could easily be a test question

I had 120 questions and my last question was infection control. Very easy so I thought I failed. I passed!

No one here can possibly answer this for you. While it's true that the computer recognizes where you are after having answered all 265 questions (as being above passing standard or below it), no one here can know how you did based on ANYTHING you tell us.

Having an "easy" or "hard" question is entirely subjective. SATA questions mean nothing, neither does multiple choice. A handful of "test" questions (in which the answer is irrelevant) are also part of the mix. Where you fell on the passing line (above or below) at the time the computer shuts off is all that matters.

To find the answer to that, you'll need your results, not guesswork from those here.

This is totally true..I misunderstood the passage I read in the Kaplan course book (they were only providing a scenario of a candidate who was below level of passing at the end of the exam). Anyway, PRAISE GOD, I PASSED THE NCLEX!!!

So I hope nobody else freaks out over the last question like I did. Be encouraged!!
