SJSU Spring 2017 (Questions/Comments/Concerns)

I looked around to see if anyone had started a thread but nothing

CSU Chico is also accepting spring transfers!

Thank you guys for the input. I'm really just going by familiar faces from classes I've taken and from what I can gather, I think we'll have a little over 70 students applying. I'm weighing my options, since the deadlines are approaching and I finally know my Teas score, I'm deciding if it would just be better to apply to SJSU only since its probably the easiest (not that it will be easy to get into) school for me to get into and I don't have money laying around for extra applications and such. My impaction score is 6.63 so I feel a bit confident about my chances, what are your plans if you guys don't mind sharing.

Yeah, everyone's score looks really good!

I'm also planning to apply to other CSUs too! Even though it's expensive to pay for the application fees, it's just good to have a backup school. I'm applying to Chico, sac, SF and long beach.

I have a question though! When I was applying to SFSU on CSU Mentor, I couldn't submit my application because of the major I picked, which is Nursing NON-RN (impacted). Whenever I tried to submitted it says that I can't choose a major that's impacted sooooooo....I choose undeclared and it didn't let me submit my application either... Did any of you guys have the same problem (if your applying for SFSU)???

By the way, are any of you guys in a different major?? Do you know if we had to get a change of major form signed if we get in?

I've actually been playing around with the application only because idk if I should even apply cause, realistically, SJSU is my best bet to get into a nursing program compared to the others so no I haven't gone that far yet. My current major is Pre-Nursing and when i applied to other CSUs two years ago I applied as undeclared pre nursing so i don't know why it wouldn't let you do it as undeclared. I think it may be because we are considered transfers and transfers need a major so I'm guessing there's an extra step for nursing that we don't know about. I will be searching around too.

I would double check with your advisor, but if you actually have a major at the moment I believe you would definitely have to change it once you get accepted since you cant actually change it to nursing unless you're in the program (If i'm not mistaken, its also done automatically, but double check to make sure).

But it was only SFSU that was the problem when I applied on CSU Mentor. The other CSUs was no problem at all so I'll just give them a call on Monday since its too late.

I think you have too but am not too sure like which advisor....like Nursing advisor or my major advisor...

Well Im going to the advising meeting next Friday so I'll just ask and let you guys know if you guys have the same problem!

Thank you for the contribution! If I find an answer sooner, I'll post it right away.

I applied to SFSU last fall and had the same issue. I applied to engineering just to pick a major. I went up there this last spring to ask about how to change my major to pre-nursing/nursing and was told if I'm accepted into nursing they will automatically change my major for me.

I've been looking at the thread from the applicants for spring 2016 and it seems to me that if the highest Impaction score is 7.33 then those with as low as 6.3 have a good chance of getting in.

Wow! You guys did so well. I got 80% and have a 5.2 GPA, which makes my impaction score to be 6.18. I'm feeling kinda discouraged ☹️. However, some of my other friends have impaction scores in 5.6's

I got 80% and have a 5.2 GPA, which makes my impaction score to be 6.18.

Just out of curiosity, how did you achieve that GPA? Is this the prereq GPA of the big 5 classes?

Yeah, my friend told me she had the same problem but when she applied on CSU Mentor, she was able to choose Undeclared. But I send them an email so hopefully they'll respond and I'll let you guys know.
