  1. I work at the VA Palo Alto also I thought we were pretty competitive with Stanford. I know at nurse 1 level 3 step 8. I make more than my day shift friends that work at Kaiser and El Camino.
  2. I'm a VA nurse in the Bay Area and my hospital, nurses received a 20% increase. With the raise act. I only received a 6% increase from by base pay. There hasn't been any talk about the VA renewing the retention incentive since contract ends in January. I've heard some senior nurses say that they are going to renew the 20% retention every year until it becomes our base salary. Just wondering if you guys heard anything at your VA hospital. Thanks!
  3. I’m feeling kind of lost and I need some advice. I graduate with my BSN this December and did a summer internship at my local VA hospital and the two days ago my nurse manager called me and asked if I would want to work as a staff nurse 1 there after I graduate and passed my NCLEX. So I pretty much have secured a job months before I graduate. However, I’m also in a long distance relationship and my bf wants me to move over there to make it work. I’m very conflicted because I live in the San Francisco/Bay Area and it’s very competitive and it’s normal to wait 6 months-1 year to find a new grad position and I already have one in the bag. I also love my unit, I worked there as a student nurse and it was be an easy transition to be an RN there and the pay would be roughly $55-60 an hr. But I also love my boyfriend, but I’m not sure about moving 3,000 miles across the country would be worth it in addition to the pay cut in addition to trying to find a job and interview (in the DC area). I’m very conflicted on my decision, it’s either him or my job here.
  4. Oops I meant a 3.52 gpa lol
  5. Wow! You guys did so well. I got 80% and have a 5.2 GPA, which makes my impaction score to be 6.18. I'm feeling kinda discouraged ☹️. However, some of my other friends have impaction scores in 5.6's
  6. Hey guys! I was wondering for the people that applied for Spring start (app due in Sep), did you have compete along with transfer students or was it just SJSU students?
