SJSU Fall 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

While I was wandering through the school section of allnurses, I was surprised to discover that a thread for the Fall 2017 program has yet to be posted. Well, there is only one way to remedy this sad situation. We gotta get this thing rollin'

I thought it might be fun to get to know each other a bit, seeing as we could have some classes together in September. We could also offer encouragement through the long and arduous wait for our acceptance letters. In addition to those things, a few people (myself included) might be interested to see how the applicant pool is going to treat us this time around.

I'm 10% nervous and 90% excited. Wait! Is it the other way around? Gah!

Big 5 GPA- 3.85

TEAS - 93.3%

Impaction Score- 6.96

Good luck! We got this!

Hey everyone! I was put on the pending list. I emailed Sue and she said I was #2 on the list. So fingers crossed!!! The extra wait is killing me!

What is your impaction score if you don't mind sharing?

Angiepreciosa209 - Good luck!!! hope to see you in the fall too!!!

Lapao - Have you heard anything??

82.7 on teas and 3.60 gpa. So my impaction score is 6.35. Lapao, I'm sure you're letter will be arriving soon!!! I honestly didn't think I would even get on the pending list. The impaction score was pretty low this year.

Have any of you signed up for classes yet?

I did a couple weeks ago. All the musts, plus 100w.

Hey guys! I just finished my first semester in the nursing program and just wanted to drop in and offer my help if anyone has questions. I know that the next few months will be very hectic as you guys prepare to enter your first semester ( been there done that, I understand the stress and how overwhelmed you may be!) and you may have questions you might not know who to ask or maybe want some advice from someone who was recently in your situation. Just thought I'd offer some help because I honestly wish someone in the program would've reached out to me and my classmates lol

Congrats and welcome! :)

Hey rnlab! Thanks for the offer of help :) I do have one question that's probably pretty silly, but it's been eating at me! I've read a lot about how to prepare for nursing school, and each blog/blurb/book says you'll be carrying a ton of books to class each day. Has that been your experience so far? I know it's silly but I had to ask haha

Throughout the whole semester I only recall ONE time where we were asked to bring our textbook to class and we never even used it. Other than that your books are not required to be brought to class and to be very VERY honest, I never opened any of my books during the semester. So I could honestly say that you could get through the semester without the textbooks BUT I do not advise you to NOT get them. Better to have them than not. Especially if you are the type to study from the text alot (which I am not). The only form of text that you will bring to class is your lecture guides for Pharmacology.

Fair warning, first semester is going to put a dent in your wallet as far as books and online material (though some of it will be with you for all 3 years and you will not have to pay for them again).

I'm a little bit of both, I like studying at my own pace from books, but I think pairing the info with lectures really cements it into memory.

Including the answer to my question, everything you just said is super helpful, and stuff I've been wondering this whole time! Awesome! Thank you! I'll be sure to come back with any more questions I think of!

Please feel welcome to do so!

Thank you for helping us out!! I'm not doing much this summer and want to start preparing for next semester. Is there anything that I could start learning so I can get a head start?
