Hey Guy! I am creating this for those applying to SJSU Fall 2021 nursing program. I wanted to see what the applicant pool looks like! Here's my stats so far:
Big 5 GPA: 4.0
TEAS: 80%
Impaction score: 6.66
I don't feel so confident due to how competitive it's been :/
Dr. Mallory sent the following email this afternoon.
“4.14.21. Greetings all- We are getting closer to finishing our screenings fo your SJSU nursing application.
I anticipate our letters will go out via email that you provided to Nursing Cas about April 22- 26th. Mark your email contact inbox listas [email protected], so letters do not go into SPAM mail; When we do follow up, we do not want you to miss our invitation. We actually had about 350 " complete " applications so it was , once again, very competitive. We will likely take 60 students. Do not email until after you get our emails telling you, your status.
Thanks all!
Dr Sue Malloy”
Good luck everyone!
In peace,
Darcie

Did you choose nursing as your major or undeclared pre-nursing? If you put nursing that may be why it says that. I believe it’s only for the university where you can view your admissions status online. The email I got today said they expect to admit 60 people out of 350 applicants and we should know between the 22nd and 26th of this month. Fingers crossed for both of us! (I have the same TEAS score as you and also just one B).

It also reads in the email that of the 500ish who did apply, only 350 applied properly. It’s possible the poster you responded to filled their application out wrong as you said and should email Dr. Malloy as soon as possible to maybe fix it ?

I didn't fill the application out wrong, though. I've corresponded quite a bit with the nursing department

I want to clarify that I definitely didn’t say and wasn’t trying to imply that you filled out your application wrong (Noah V said ‘as you said’ in reference to my response so I wanted to make that clear). I think if you’re seeing that message from the University you should contact that admissions office instead of the nursing dept specifically if you haven’t already
Oh man. :( Thats so discouraging. Sorry to hear it @alexwalters92 ??.
If you were denied acceptance with those scores, I certainly will be too. My GPA: 3.86 and TEAS: 88%
I’m planning to retake the TEAS next month. Is this your first time applying? Maybe consider reapplying for Spring 2022 with a better TEAS score?

No one has gotten denied or accepted by the school of nursing yet. We literally will only find out through email. The status on SJSU one is only for the university.

I have a 3.74 which is the average of some *** classes in 2012 and a 3.93 from the last 4 years of CC at SRJC.
however, the nursing program has nothing to do with cumulative at sjsu. Just the big 8 which I have 7 As and 1 B in micro.
so, if Im supposed to take some other meaning from the email from the university about impaction GPA reqs for specifically nursing major application... then beats me.
this is just what I know

Sorry, I just wanted to make sure that you put pre nursing undeclared for your application? I’m sure you did fill everything right but it wouldn’t be the first time this has happened to the nursing program and they were able to fix it if this is the case. If not it’s still pretty strange to be receiving denial from SJSU. Did you happen to get accepted secondary major? Spring 2021 is still an option so I’d try to be optimistic for that

Yeah. I emailed sue. I've also corresponded with her quite a bit. My application was good on her end as of march 22nd. Ima file the appeal to make sure I atleast get in undeclared

my situation is the exact same! I emailed to see if I could change my major and get in and this is what they told me. I was worried that I would have to reapply again & spend more money but maybe I could also do an appeal too? I thought the appeal was only for special circumstances though. how would that work? I didn’t put a secondary major I think
