SJRCC (Orange Park/Palatka) Information

U.S.A. Florida

Hi I am currently enrolled at FSCJ and I will hopefully be applying to a nursing program in Fall 2010. I have looked at the requirements at SJRCC to apply to the nursing program and they are somewhat similar to FSCJ but as everyone knows they give priority to Duval and Nassau counties and I live in O. P. I see that May of 2010 is the last time that they will accept scores from the NET testing and then begin to accept scores for the HESI testing. Has anyone taken the HESI? I also see that there is a course called Professions of Caring which I guess is a class that is not required but may be informative about different health care careers. Is this a class offered online or is it on campus? Has anyone taken this class? Would you say that most of the nursing applicants have taken this class before applying? Also how many students do they take a sememster? Are the applicants accepted based on the number of students that graduated from the previous class? I would like to know if anyone has any insight about the SJRCC program. Please and Thank You for all the information that you are able to provide. :D

I turned my letter in the next day in person at the Campus because I live close by but I still haven't received the agenda yet.

I have my CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers because I have a CNA license and I took the class on the westside in Jax with a company called CPR Training Associates and they are registered with the American Heart Association. I think I paid $35-$40 for the class:rolleyes:.

Did your friend tell you what to expect in Orientation?

Yes, she said lots, and lots of info! :p

She also said that our books will be available and will cost about $800!!! The email that we get will tell us what we need to know. Where are you coming from?

I haven't turned mine in yet. I was going to do it on Monday and didn't realize SJRCC was on spring break. I was wondering what they were going to tell us on the 30th. So that is good that we can get the books- I guess. What about shots? Does anyone know which ones we are going to need? I need to take CPR also.

There are several shots to get like the flu (reg. and H1N1). However, we should have plenty of time to get them done since classes do not start until May 10th. I know we will need plain white sneakers and flat front khaki pants (this is all info from my friend that started in Jan).

Her classes are Tues, Wed, and Thur from 9-3:30, Monday 9-12 and off on Fridays.

I live in the Orange Park area about 10 minutes away from SJRCC closer to the Orange Park Mall.

I live in Fleming Island area. We are pretty close to one another. Did you get your CPR yet?

Yes I have the CPR certification. I got it last year in October so I won't have to get re-certified until Oct. 2011.

Ok, Fleming Island is somewhat close to me so if we need a to set up a study group, we won't have far to go!

Where did you get certified and what was the cost? I need to get mine done and the sooner the better =) Thanks......

.....Im getting excited!:yeah:

The place I got my CPR certification with is called CPR Training Associates. I think I paid between $35 and $45 and I received the card the same day. The class was at a church hall on the westside of Jacksonville.

Ok that's good if you know of a class close by.

Did you hear anything about the immunizations we will have to have? I have a lot of them already because I had to get them when I got accepted into UCF but I didn't have to get a H1N1 or flu shot.

I only know what my friend (that started in Jan) has told me. She said that she had to have them both. The H1N1 and the reg flu shot. I guess we will get more info on the 30th for that! Can't wait =)
