I will be interviewing sometime next week for a GN residency in Tampa next week. I have no idea if I have a chance, but I have worked so hard to even get an interview, I'm praying it will work out. The problem is that I will have very little time to look for a place to live and figure out how I will relocate from MD by the 2nd wk of February. I don't have much money to spare, but I want to live somewhere that is safe, clean, and quiet. Am I crazy for trying to do this without seeing where I'll be living or working? I lived in the St.Pete for college years ago, so I am somewhat familiar with the area, but from what I've heard it has really grown since then.
I'm by myself so it's a bit overwhelming. To complicate things, I finally got an offer at the hospital where I work in MD but I hate the cold and the snow and already got the FL license. I tentatively accepted the job here before I found out I could interview for FL job next week. I have to "officially" accept the MD job online and have until the end of next week. I would hate to ruin the only job offer I've had since I've been trying x6 months, but I loved living in Florida and feel like it could be a new start.
So, if anyone that can offer any recommendations as far as affordable safe places to live or has any experience relocating from up north I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I'm glad that you are getting some opportunities too! I will say some prayers for you that you get whichever one is going to make you happy and where you can use your talents and skills. We'll have to check back with each other tomorrow night! Feel free to pm me if you want.
LOL I love Fargo, Geez. Don't cha know! My best friend lives in Twelve Oaks. It's nice up there. IDK about apartments, but the houses we looked at up there were 2-4 bedrooms and started out at around 1400$ for a decent area. We looked at a few in Town & Country for around $1200 and they were G-h-e-t-t-o. It's possible to find a nice place, but most likely, kinda want to say definitely, not for under $1000/mo for a rental. Brandon is a little more of a commute but you get more for your money out there. Who knows though, you could get lucky! We did! People told me left and right I'd never find a place in South Tampa with my "requirements" and my budget ($1500 max) and we found something for even less here in South Tampa!
Really? I lived in South Tampa for $850/month (nice 1 bedroom). Also had a nice 2 bedroom near Rocky Point for about $1100-1200.

I was referring to a 3+ bedroom. Yea, I was also surprised people were saying I'd have to have a budget of at least $1600 to find something decent. Guess you just have to look!

Well that's cool!!! God is amazing and loves us so much doesn't He? Good luck on the interview and I will say a prayer right now. It must be Tampa General huh? I got a call last night for an interview for Publix grocery store lol so I go in the morning at 10 a.m. I also got an email today about a nursing interview for the evening shift with developmental disability folks. On Monday I had an interview for the school nurse position but I haven't heard back yet. I showed up a day early oops but better early than late right lol? At least opportunities are popping up now!!!
