I didn't see a thread on this already. I'm working on my application right now for the May cohort. I'm thinking I might start in the Fall, but was told that start time received the highest number of applications and that I could delay my start if I wanted to apply to an earlier date. Anyone else doing this? I'm feeling a time crunch, as I'm moving to South Korea in April and wanted to have it all done. Simmons is one of the few online FNP programs that will allow me to do my clinicals on any military base world-wide, which is a huge help. I'm really excited, but have no idea what my chances are for acceptance. I have less than 2 years of experience, so I'm pretty weak in that area. How are applications coming for everyone else?

I began the full time program March 2014, after I completed term one, I chose to drop to PT in term 2. I work full time from home as a telephonic pediatric care coordinator. Even though I work from home I am still required to do my 40 hours of work (M-F), so I do have a bit of flexibility throughout the week. I will not be able to continue my full time employment in July when clinical starts in though. I will be completing 2- 8hr rotations per week (16 hours per week) that must be done during M-F business hours. So I will need to look at other employment options. I do not want to go back on 12 hr shifts nor hospital work so I'm not sure what I'll do. I am in the process of becoming a health coach and want to start my own health and weightloss coaching business but we will see! =)
I'm also applying and was done as of yesterday. My experience is short, but I think better than what it could've been. I've done 2 years in a mixed unit ICU, have my CCRN national certification, great resumes from manager, NP, and ex professor. Ive dealt with cardio, neuro, surgical and medical ICU patients. I was turned down once due to my 3.65 GPA, & have only added the CCRN since. I am not optimistic, but at least I'm in at Saint Joseph's though.
What at about you guys?
Hi! I applied for the Simmons & GW program for fall 2015! GW was my
First choice but the online application through Nursing CAS has made it impossible, and I'm pretty sure my application wasn't sent to GW.
Still waiting to hear from Simmons, but they did offer me a start time in May, but I wanted to enjoy my summer before starting grad school. Has anyone heard from Simmons as far as acceptance?
Do any of you know how we can get applications status updates???
Thanks!!!

Oscar,
Where were you turned down once already from? Simmons? I'm still waiting to hear about my acceptance or denial.

Ibothe,
The only way I know how is through your admissions counselor. When did you apply to Simmons?
My application is out for review by faculty as of last Monday; my admissions counselor told me to expect to hear within two to four weeks, which means I should hopefully know one way or another by mid-April.
Since receiving notification that my application was out for review, I have not received any more updates (other than the standard boilerplate stuff about being prepared with a deposit in order to hold my seat).
I should also add that it took a few weeks for all of the bits and pieces of my application to come together - but my admissions counselor was good about either notifying me of where things stood or answering questions if I reached out first.
lbothe - is it possible that you still have some items outstanding for your application? I know that I mistakenly had one of my transcripts sent to the wrong location, for example (they are to be sent to different places for the on campus programs versus the online program), which added to the amount of time before my application went to faculty.
Hi Phyllis' mom,
what FNP program did you apply to?
My GW application on nursing CAS site says incomplete, but when I spoke with the GW admissions counselor she said all information was submitted. I guess I'm just confused about the application process in general. My worry is that they overlooked a transcript because this is what happened at Simmons.
See, I graduated with two bachelors from the same school. I got my first degree in 2003 and my second one in 2014. Between 2003 and 2014 the school changed their name, so when transcripts were reviewed at Simmons it looks like I was missing a transcript. So, I guess I'll have to wait to apply again in the spring or look into other programs. Bummer

Thanks Tasha! Glad to hear you're hanging in there! I'm guessing the year has flown by being that you stay incredibly busy eh? Now if the time can fly by until I (hopefully) receive my admission email, all will be well :)
