havent heard much chatter about the Simmons College DE 2010 applicants... anyone else out there apply as their first choice school and waiting to get in??
Another request for feedback from someone currently in the Simmons program or an alum. Have a deposit out at another program, which I love, but just got my acceptance letter and I also really like Simmons' program. It and the program to which I've already sent a deposit were neck and neck as my first choices.Difference in cost for me would be fairly negligible, or I'd use that as a criterion. From what I can see, I would physically have to be somewhere slightly less at Simmons, which is significant, since I do have kids. I don't think there is a major difference in intensity of the programs. Simmons is in Boston, but the other program is not; I was hoping for a public transportation option and Simmons is the only one I could take commuter rail to. Which, honestly, is kind of big for me, particularly in the icy winter. I just don't know.
I'm in the program now, expected graduation in 2012, so I can answer any questions you may have! Just send me a message!
Good luck!
goberun83 - I just decided to attend Simmons, after strongly considering another well-respected program in Boston. I didn't have much of an opportunity to speak with current students/graduates, so I'd love your input.
Have you been happy so far with the program? Do you find it rigorous? What are your impressions of the faculty, and how have you found your clinical opportunities? I've heard that there can be quite a lot of variability in clinical sites (not at Simmons, particularly), so I'm wondering what your experiences were like. Any thoughts would be so appreciated!
Thanks!
I've been accepted to the program, and my acceptance letter stated that they were no longer doing programs for anything other than the FNP track. It was the first I'd heard of it (was I just not paying attention?!), but I'm not sure if that sways your decisions on where you want to go. Good luck to those waiting to hear still!
Goberun83, I don't think I have enough posts to message yet. I'm just curious about a whole bunch of things--what is your schedule like? What are clinicals like? What's the RN internship like? Are preceptors for the NP part of the program hard to come by? Etc. I would love to hear the opinion of someone in the program!

Oh I totally know that feeling!! People at work and my family/friends ask me everyday, I'm like I will tell you when I hear! I just hope that I will have good news to tell them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)
