Hello there,
Starting a thread for Sierra College's Fall 2017 ADN program applicants. Just thought we could use this to keep in touch for updates. Anyone else applying?? How many times have you applied for Sierra and/or other programs?? This will be my first time applying for any nursing program. Good luck to everyone!
Hey hawaiilala, we have a group on Facebook called Sierra College ADN Class of 2019. Add it to connect with some of us before the program starts! Look into Lincoln, Roseville, Possibly Citrus Heights closer to a freeway, you could also look into Auburn as well. If you're wanting to not commute too far, those are the closest surrounding areas. Can't wait to meet you!
Hi everyone! So we just had our first orientation last night, and I wanted to let everyone know who has been wondering about one thing... There was 297 people who applied for Fall 2017 (which seems very low in my opinion. As everyone turned in their applications, each packet was given a number. Then they took the numbers 1-297 to the math department and did some kind of algorithm into the computer and it generated 50 numbers (40 for enrollment and 10 for alternates). Then used those numbers to look at who had what packet and then proceed to review it. If I remember correctly, they said they went through all the alternates and had to redraw like 10 more names because a lot of students declined their acceptances.
Also, they said they will be changing the application process next year to be multi-criteria.
It is much more grade based now. The majority of the points come from your science GPA, and the TEAS score. And then everyone with the minimum points is entered into the lottery. I'm in the current class and with a 3.75 GPA and an 84% on my TEAS, I didn't hit the minimum points for the new selection process unless I retook the science I got an 88% in and got an A. They have a algorithm on the website you can enter your grades into to see what your score would be.

Hi everyone,
I would love some help.
I got accepted into the program--yay!
I'll be re-locating from the Bay Area, so I don't know the area at all.
I know Sierra college is in Rocklin, and I've been looking on Craigslist for apartments.
Are there other towns that are near Rocklin, where I wouldn't be stuck in horrible traffic, and it would be a little cheaper?
Thanks everyone for your help, and I look forward to meeting you all during orientation!
