Sick and I start work tomorrow

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Today has been absolutely horrible. I have been vomiting so much my stomach is sore, had diarrhea, cold sweats, lightheaded, and my energy is drained. It took all my might to just take a shower. On top of that I ended up puking right after I stepped out, I couldn't even put on clothes yet. So I ended feeling dirty all over again. To top it off, tomorrow is my first day as a CNA. I have to be at work by 5:45 in the morning. I'm hoping I will feel at least a little better when I wake up. I feel horrible that I'm going in on my first day being so ill and not at my 100%. Wish me luck so that I can make it through tomorrow!

Sorry, I just had to rant somewhere. Hope that's okay!

Prayers that you can get a good night sleep and feel better enough to go to work. Just remember though if you Still feel sick call in and tell them exactly what you have. You do not want to get frail elderly people sick, and trust me if one person falls sick with the flu about 10 others will follow and it will not be pleasant for the CNAs and nurses. Work would rather you take one to two more days then take a chance at that happening

Hopefully you feel okay!

Thank you both for the well wishes! I went in and just told the person I'm training under about what was going on. She called a nurse in who sent me home right away. I went in to show that I was willing to work even though I'm sick. I just hope this doesn't look bad on me and doesn't affect me. My trainer might be happy though! She's been training so many people lately and now she has a day where she can have a break from training, hahaha.

It shouldn't effect you negatively. If anything it'll demonstrate your good work ethic :)

They don't want you in there when you're sick because your illness will tear through the facility like a wild fire. The residents canNOT handle an illness like we can and a "little" virus for us (that we can fight off with a few days rest)could mean a deadly illness for them!

...at least they know you weren't foolin around....a better idea would have been to call out, tell them you are sick and that you will bring in a note from the doctor (which would prove it).

Yeah, you're right. Maybe it would of been better to call in. Luckily I didn't come into contact with any of the residents. Since it was so early in the morning there was no residents walking around yet, and barely any workers there. I'll keep in mind to just call out in the future instead of going in. Thanks for the advice!

Missing you is right that is why in my post I said to call in if you were still sick. Didn't think you'd go there sick.

Hope you feel better. I was ill during training one time and that's the worst.
