I just wanted to say if you are about to enter your first semester, congratulations!!! Pat yourself on the back!!! (esp the women (NO I am not sexist, I just think it is a beautiful thing seeing women follow their dreams and get a college education). I hope each of you including the ones that are already in the program, have a great semester!!! KEEP YOUR HEAD UP LIKE YOU HAVE NOSEBLEED!! LOL. Stay focused, study diligently, and make them good grades!! I am so proud of you all even though I know none of you personally! I am about to enter my third semester out of four, and I am so happy for those who are about to start their journey. I know sometimes it will be super tough, and you will want to give up... BUT.. Keeping pushing forward in the hardships because it is truly rewarding after accomplishing something as difficult as a semester of nursing school!!! GOOD LUCK to you all!! :) I hope this was encouraging!

Thank you so much for those kind words! Very thoughtful of you to wish us beginners good luck! Congrats on making it so far on your journey and good luck when you take the NCLEX. We are all rooting for you! :)

Congrats to you!!! We have come a long way and our journey is almost over. Can you believe how far we have come? You will do great. Good luck this semester!!!

Well I finished my first semester of Fundamentals and on my way to med-surge. I am so excited. One thing I want to say for anyone just starting or getting prepared. RECORD YOUR LECTURES! I did not my first 3 exams, and got a D, C, C. But once I started recording my lectures, I got all A'S and B's from there on. We only remember approximately 30% of what we hear, and after a week or two, we forget or miss something important. So just a bit of advice: did I mention, RECORD YOUR LECTURES!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

@martha keaton: what program would you recommend to record lectures?

Or anyone who records lectures, what do you use? iPhones come with "voice memo" but I don't know if it can 1) record a 3 hour lecture or 2) if there are better applications available! (Any recommendations appreciated -iPhone, iPad or laptop!)

Make sure you double check with your instructor/program guidelines prior to recording. I have to sign a form in my classes if the instructor allows it.
