Should I write an admissions letter

I am going to be applying for an ADN program. I have been thinking about writing an admissions letter to kind of detail my academic journey and tell the admissions board more about why I want to become a nurse. Now, this is not a requirement for admission to the program however; the admissions policy is that if two applicants score the same amount of points acceptance will be chosen at random. I have been thinking that maybe it will give me one up on someone who may score the same amount of points as me.

What do you guys think?

I'd contact some one in admissions for the college you are applying to and ask if they would even read it. Some schools do allow you to add a short document or extra letter to explain aberrations in grades. I am guessing that since it is a point based system writing the letter won't do anything at all to improve your chances, but clarify with your school.

Unless this is something the school asks for, I wouldn't. Not only is it unlikely to help you (as verene notes, it is likely that the school has some sort of policy against reading additional material submitted by applicants), it could easily hurt you if you are perceived as trying to give yourself some kind of extra, special advantage over the other applicants.

The topics you are describing as what you would address in a letter are things it would be apprpriate to discuss in an interview. Save them for that setting.

Nope. Because if it's not part of the requested admissions packet they can't consider it as part of whether or not you are admitted. When they say a tiebreaker will be chosen at random, that means they have to choose at random.
