Hi All,

I am sort of in a dilema. I am taking A&P I this fall at Collin County Community College. I work full time and I have two boys ages 4 and 6. I have heard that A&P I is very hard at CCCC, but I want to have my prereqs in process and/or completed by Spring 2009 in order to apply for nursing school. Is it wise for me to take A&P I with Statistics this fall and take A&P II with Microbology in the Spring? Classes start on the 25th. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am taking A&P I this semester and then A&P II and Microbiology next semester. That is how they do it here. If you did ok in Algebra you should do fine in Statistics, its really just simple algebra math with different applications and concepts. My classes start on the 25th also.

I think you would be fine. For me I thought Statistics was really easy and I hope you find it to be easy, too! But I'm not going to life - A&P I&II are tough! If it makes you feel better, I took A&P II, Microbiology & Intro To General/Organic & Biochemistry all together last semester and I did fine! You just have to stay organized. Good luck! :nurse::redbeathe

I took two anatomy's thus far and taking my final one this fall w/ basic phamacology, and micro biology. I have a one and ahalf year old at home and a husband that works 60+hrs a week.

If you can get interested in the subject I dont see why you wouldnt do well~!~ Stats is overrated, I am horrible in math and I recieved a high B in the class at a Jesuit college~!~ Like the previous poster said if you can stay organized and find time to study you will have no problems~!~

CCCC will not allow you to take microbiology and A&P II at the same time. A&P I and II are both prerequisites for micro.

I would think if you have time to study and are organized you will be able to get through a semester with both stats and A&P I. I just finished A&P I over the summer semester at CCCC and made an A in it..that was a 10 week semester versus the usual 15 week of fall or spring. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

AmericanBeauty, any well motivated student should be able to handle A&P-1 and Stats without any problem. I took Anatomy 1 and Physio 1 during the same semester, then O-Chem and Micro together, and somehow managed to get through (3 As, and a B+).

I'm not saying that to brag. I'm just a regular guy, who wants to become an RN and is willing to do the work. I'm finishing nursing school in a few months. And so far, the NS workload has been much heavier than during my pre-reqs.

So taking A&P-1 at the same time as Stats, might be an opportunity for you to test your resolve, and get a feel for the possible workload of nursing school:)

If you succeed (or not), then at least you know more about your likelihood to succeed in nursing school. And at least you had the courage to try.

Thank you all to who replied. I had my first lecture and lab yesterday. It is definitely going to be a tough class. I have been out of school for a long time. I think I am going to pace myself and see how this class goes before I take on more. As I mentioned I work full time and have small children. I definitely have to find a way to organize my time and study hard. Any suggestions from anyone who works full-time??????

I would like to pm to talk more in detail about your experience with the summer class and to get any insight or advice you can provide to me. However, I am unsure of how to PM. If you can instruct me that would be great!

Just popping in to remind you that there has been a change in the Private Message system. Members must have 15 posts in order to use the PM system.

So.... someone needs to get postin'! ;)

After that, if you want to send a PM, you just put your pointer on the name of the person you want to send a message to, and the drop-down menu will come up. Choose PM.

I have to post 15 messages before I can PM you back. I better get started because I have a few questions for you.
