Should I take A&P 1 Over?

Published

I'm in the midst of my pre-reqs and am currently taking A&P 2. I find it much more interesting than A&P1 and for some reason am doing better in it. I'm applying to a few accelerated BSN programs in the fall and am wondering if they're going to judge me harshly for getting a C+ in A&P 1. Do you think I should take it over, even if I end up doing really well in the rest of my pre-req's, or is that not looked upon well either??

if you have the time why not?

I have 3 more classes to take this summer regardless, so I don't necessarily have the free time. Also, I'm paying for these classes out of pocket so it's another $750 I'd have to consider spending.

I also got a C in A&P1 but got a high B in A&P2. I took A&P1 my first semester out of high school and had NO idea how to study (plus slept through lecture). By A&P2, 4 years later, I had learned how to study. I have to retake A&P1 because it's been too long since I took it. But I was already planning on it.

I will say that my C did not keep me from being accepted into a nursing program. I was accepted but had to decline. But I suppose my other scores were high enough to offset the one low grade.

I'm hoping that will be the case for me. I have a bachelors in communications/business now and graduated with a 3.23 so i'm hoping if i do well in my other 4 pre-reqs it won't affect me much.

I would think it depends on how competitive entrance to the nursing program you're trying to get into is, if there is a test to get into the program and what that score is, along with what kind of grades and scores the other applicants to the program have.

I have read other posts on this board, and some people were not able to get into the program I'm trying to get into when they had a B on one of their pre-reqs.

If I received a C, I would re-take the class, but that's just my 2 cents worth on it.

I do hope you are able to get in.

the best person to assist you with that info will be your advisor, since rules and points change from school to school!

ask her if it would be wise to take it again, or if you are srill with great chance of being accepted!

I got a c in A&P I but turned around the next semester and took A&PII and Microbiology, ended up with an A in A&PII and a B in Micro and was still accepted first try, part of what helped was the fact that I turned around and took 2 lab sciences in the same semester (same day even, yes I am a bit crazy lmao) and I scored very high on the NLN, if your schol however has a point system they use that is spelled out in the handbook it may be worth retaking, depends on the school, Good luck!
