Should I resign, or be suspended?

I have been working for a large hospital corporation for 7 months. Couple of weeks ago, I applied for a position at a different location (transfer). I talked to the recruiter and asked if I should first tell my manager. She left it up to me. Since my manager was out of town, and thinking that it's a transfer within company, I told the HR agent to go ahead with the process. A few days later, when I saw my boss, and asked her if it'd be ok for me to pursuit a closer location to my home, she said policy allows a transfer after a year of employment (HR had told me it's up to boss's discression). Today, boss called me in, and showed me 4 evidences of mistakes that I had made. I did take the balme for one, but all together, I got the impression that I'm being punished for bailing out on her. She has given me the choice of resigning, or being let go.

Please tell me, what's best for me to do?

That's generally true, except...

If a large corporation sets up policy and procedures that the employee is expected to follow, along with a disciplinary tract, they are obligated to follow the rules they've set up.

(also it appears the OP meant suspension, not termination)

Write a note of apology to the NM. Offer to stay to finish out your year at the least, no hard feelings, it was an oversight, blah, blah, blah. Thanks for pointing out my errors. Realize I have a lot to learn, thanks for time invested in me. Like you and the unit, was just trying to get closer to home, etc. If they have any leadership skills they will accept and move on. There will be other jobs available and it is a really tough market for those without 2 years of experience. Also, really small healthcare world and you may need this person or work with them in the future. Be the bigger person.

Not true! I was terminated from a job where the NM was "writing you up" over any and every little thing - many unsubstantiated and minor. I explained my situation to the adjudicator and I was granted unemployment benefits. If I remember correctly I had 6 "write ups."

Well, if it happened once to you, that must make it so.

If you google this subject, there are many other examples of people collecting unemployment benefits after being fired.

And BTW, I never actually collected. I received another (better) job offer the next day.

Now, the question is... do I even mention on my resume that I worked there for 7 months? I have been employed at a home health for some time, I can list that as my most recent employment.

I'd contact HR and see what your options are. Stand up for yourself and if you don't agree with something state them, but remain professional. We've all dealt with this nonsense before. Some managers put a target on ya and won't let up. I'm a stickler for policy as well. Have your HR show you what their policy is. What's in writing?! Now if you violated something according to policy...well then you just have to own up to it. If not I definitely would bring that to their attention. She can't "write you up" based on her own policies. Keep your head up chick. This will all pass :-)

Maybe call HR and do your own "reference check" and see what they say about you? It could be they will only give the dates that you were employed there. Is there anyone there (charge nurse or fellow nurse)whom you could use for a reference check? I wouldn't say to totally not use it.
