Should I quit nursing school?

Published

I'm 2 semesters away from graduating Lpn school and I really don't think I want to be a nurse anymore. I hate clinicals. My grades are good but working in a long term care facility has been killing me and the thought of doing this for another 9 months makes me sick. We've had peds and OB clinicals and I didn't like those either. People keep telling me that I'm so close to graduation that I should at least finish and then switch to something else.

Is that enough of a reason to stay? Or should I stop wasting time and money and change my major?

You have to follow what's in your heart if you hated your clinical rotations then imagine what it would be like for you when you start actually working. You should re evaluate why you chose to go to nursing school and go on from there.

You're so close to finishing! But on the other hand, if you truly know that this is not what you want to do, then I wouldn't waste any more $$ on it. If you still want to work in the healthcare field, there are plenty of other things to do besides being a nurse. What else are you thinking about?

Examine the reasons why you didn't like them. Was it that you didnt like the hospital environment or you didn't like patient care or contact. Nothing wrong with moving on if you feel that nursing is not for you.

It might just be that you have a profound distaste for nursing homes. I know I do.

If you don't want to be a nurse, don't waste your time. Life is too short. Now you know what you don't want to be-that's a positive. Move on. Find ur calling. Good luck

You are so close to finishing! You can always fall back on this! Just finish! You'll regret not finishing someday

I would finish just in case you change your mind one day and or to have something to fall back on. You have 2 months left and worked so hard

It's so cliche to say this, BUT, it takes a special person to be a nurse. If your heart is not in it, it won't be good for you or your patients. You are so close to being finished!!!! Look at the reasons why you do not like nursing and then look at why you do. Why did you go in to nursing in the first place? Then decide. Good luck!!!!

Finish everyone has this point where they want to turn back. Keep going you have come so far, this is honestly just the beginning you will face many challenges when it comes to your nursing career.
