  1. I understand. I had the same problem..never had to study before, so I didn't know how! I tried multiple methods, but what worked for me was making flashcards. Not just definition flashcards, but flashcards with actual questions on them that you have to think through. Repitition is key for me, so these flashcards helped. I have another classmate that outlines her chapters, and that is what works for her. Also, for what you are studying, look up mnemonics. For example, if you are studying the blood pressure drugs, google "nursing blood pressure drugs mnemonic" or something like that. Then click on the images tab. You would be surprised what pictures pop up that can help you visualize and remember. Good luck!
  2. Congrats on making it to your last semester! You're almost there!!
  3. Awesome! Today was my first day of my first semester! There's only 9 weeks for this semester to take pharm/drug cal and fundamentals so we hit the ground running today...but I love it! :)
  4. Mother of one very energetic three year old boy :) LPN Middle Georgia Tech Starts May 20 (TOMORROW!!!!) 13 months May 2014 Anxious, but ready to get started!
  5. I am working PRN and using student loans.
  6. I'm in GA going to Middle Ga Tech, well, its called Central Ga tech now. I looked into the Lanier Tech one years ago when I lived in Gainesville...I sure do miss it up there
  7. Good point about the schools...lol
  8. I say go for it! When I got my acceptance phone call telling me I was in, I hesitated and got scared. I was afraid of failure, to the point where I wanted to put it off for another semester. But what is more time going to do for you? That is the question you need to answer. It gives you more time to sit around and doubt yourself. Think about what went wrong in your BSN program, and work on fixing that. Can you pin it down to one or two things?
  9. Good luck to you! Please share your strategies for managing everything once you get going!
  10. Its funny, cause the only place I hear the negative stuff about the LPN's is on this forum! I work at a hospital, and they still hire LPN's. I look at it this way...if LPN's were being "phased out", why would there still be so many programs out there to get your LPN? It wouldn't make much sense huh? SWM2009 is right, just don't worry about what other people say. Congrats on getting accepted!!!
  11. I start Monday, and I am scared too! Terrified actually. I am also taking out student loans to help with the bills while I am in school, that allows me to cut my hours at work. Is that an option for you? Hang in there. You can do it!!
  12. I start my program on Monday with fundamentals and pharm. Scared and excited at the same time! I have a three year old.....I hope I still get to see him, LOL. I cut my hours at work, I am now PRN, so hopefully that will help :) Good luck to everyone else that is starting this summer!
  13. Congrats!! When do you start?
  14. I asked that question at a LTC facility one time, and they acted like they were thrilled that someone would want to only work weekends. Apparently they rotate the weekends, and if someone wants to, that lets others off the hook! lol
