Shoreline CC Nursing Spring 2018

Published

Hi Everyone!

I am back for round two of applying:) I still have yet to review my application for Winter quarter and am hoping to do that before the Holiday. I was awarded 102.9 points this last go-around, but can confidently say that I will have 105.9 for Spring. I sure hope that is competetive!

Where is everyone else? It looks like this is that last cohort that will not be required to take the nursing placement test. AHHHHHH!

I look forward to hearing where everyone is! GOOD LUCK!

Hey guys, thank you for the replies.Waiting is definitely not fun but we got 3 weeks down already. only 3 more to go.

The idea of taking the Pax exam freaks me out. that is one of the reasons why I only applied to shoreline coz they did not require any of those. But again the cut off number keep spiking every quater, that is really stressfull. The nursing secretary, Sharon, told me cut off number is usualy 103, but i ve been reading forums and many affirm that recent cohort had very high cut off point. lets cross fingers. we ould talk about something else if you are interested.

What type of nurse would you all want to be? I want to be either be ER or OR, I like the pace and have plans for ARNP!

Hey Hady!

I always thought I wanted to work at Children's, but I got a job as a CNA in the Maternity Center at Evergreen Hospital and now I want to become a labor and delivery nurse! All the nurses I've worked with have told me that they thought they knew what department they wanted to work in but once they went through the different rotations in school it changed, so we'll see!

I've picked up a few shifts in the ER as a patient sitter and have always wanted to give those nurses a pat on the back. It seems like a tough but rewarding department to work in.

I did volunteer in the emergency department and I must admit it is fast paced and seems stressful. But I also think I would be a really good opportunity to encounter countless cases and gain experience to be a good future nurse practitioner.

some friends who are nurse students also told me they made their final choice after rotating all department, and it was often different from the initial choice. So maybe I will change my mind later on, all I want is pursue at least an advance level.

are you planning on furthering your nursing studies?

I think I will always keep the option open to pursue my MSN or something further, but I'm not sure if I will. I'll be 31 on Saturday and will be getting married this November. Once nursing school is over, I would like to start a family so I think I would put any additional nursing studies (besides my BSN) on hold for a while. Who knows what the future holds though :)

awwnnn T_Petes Happy birthday in advance, and congratulations on your engagement/ wedding. It is very thoughtful to put a hold on school to start a family. After all its about what matters the most, besides there is no rush after your RN. very good timing to get experience needed to pursue an advance degree when you decide. wish you all the best in your marriage!!

LETTERS WENT OUT THIS MORNING. cut off was 105.

We will probably receive them by Tuesday depending on where you live, also Monday is a holiday.

I go to SCC so i stopped by their building this morning and asked.

Hey Hady, thanks for the heads up! Do you know if the cut off was 105.0 or a little higher? I had 104.85 so I'm hoping maybe that will be enough to make the waitlist!

Congratulations to everyone!

I don't recall the lady mentioning any decimal part on the cut off number. I am sorry ahead if I misinformed you guys. T_petes I hope you make it to the waitlist and eventually get in.

again Congratulations to all that got accepted!!
