Shoes...what do you wear?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

No matter who I talk to, everyone has different opinions on shoes. I realize that everyone's comfort varies and different shoes fit people differently.

So...what is your shoe of choice and why? Also, what color shoe do you usually wear?

Me..I wear Dansko shoes in black. They were rotten to break in the first two weeks and I could only wear them part of the day. Now, they are super comfortable. I see a lot of nurses wearing Crocs and I wonder if they offer good support and comfort?

I love sketchers. Unfortunately, I have big ol' feet and ever since I have had my 2nd child, they don't fit me right! Funny thing is during my last pregnancy, that was all that I could put on my feet!

Jealous!

NB are great shoes. I have found them to be extremly comfortable for my big ol' size 10!

I don't mind spending money on shoes if it means that my feet are not going to ache at the end of the day. I have seen SAS and they are meant to be very comfy!

Thanks for sharing :)

My parents gave them to me for my last birthday. I would like to get another pair - and a pair of Crocs too. Good things to put on my Christmas wish list :)

I wear cowboy boots.......but then again I don't have to wear scrubs. I'm in mental health.

Love it! If I had a choice, I think I would wear cowboy boots too. :)

I wear Danskos - I can be on my feet all day long without my plantar fasciitis bothering me.. I wish they made pretty dress shoes; I would definitely buy them.

My stupid (narrow, high-but-weak-arched) feet keep changing their stupid minds about what shoes they like. At the moment it's Merrells, but it's also been Danskos, Pumas, and New Balance. The Pumas were the best and still are, but they don't make the model I love anymore and they're kind of dingy. I wear them only when I have to do a long stretch of shifts and I just can't take it. I loved the Danskos fiercely for a while and bought several pairs, but all of a sudden my feet went "hmmmm... nope." I think the problem is that the footbed is so hard, and my arches are in just sliiiiiightly different spots on each of my feet, so the lack of give in the bed really hurts after a while.

I have a short, wide foot (women's size 6.5) with plenty of fat on the instep portion, so most shoes do not fit me properly. For athletic shoes, I wear New Balance sneakers to work because they come in varying widths from narrow to extra wide, and the insoles are removeable so that they can be washed and replaced easily. Also, New Balance shoes leave my feel feeling comfy for entire 16 hour shifts.

If I want to wear a casual shoe to work, I wear my SAS shoes. They are very expensive at $120 per pair, and also not very attractive. But they are one of the most comfortable pairs of orthopedic shoes I have ever worn. They are all hand-made at a factory in San Antonio, and shipped to the rest of the country. The insoles are removeable for easy washing, and they tend to last forever. Also, my feet feel great at the end of a 16 hour shift at work after wearing these shoes.

I always swore by SAS "Freetime" until I tried Cherokee Rockers Lights. To me, they are even more comfortable and last longer.

Plus, they're only 30-40 bucks a pair. I wear a 7 WW, so I have a hard time finding shoes, too. Cherokee's only come in medium width, but they are a naturally wide style. I get an 8M, and they fit me better than my SAS 7 WW do. Now, my SAS shoes are collecting dust in the closet.

Maybe you'd like the Cherokees?

I rotate between Dansko's, Merrils and those ugly crocs. I have a white pair of Dansko's from clinicals that I sometimes wear, but I perfer my black or Brown ones. It DID take a log time to break them in, but now they seem to be very good for my back. Unfortunatley the are so high that they make most of my scrub pants too short. When I want to wear my short scrubs, I wear my Merrils, which are nice, but rather boring looking.

Crocs? I swore I would never wear those stupid plastic shoes that are mostly worn by 6 year-old girls here in CA. But DANGed if they aren't the most comfortable shoes I own. Get them in black and they dont look as stupid. I do find that I trip a lot when I wear them, however!!

Me, too. And it happens all the time!! But I still love my Crocs.

White leather New Balance works for me. Having high arches, it can be hard to find comfy shoes but my feet or legs never feel fatigued. I"ve not worked anywhere where they allowed Crocs but I'll wear them to the pool or around the house. I used to work with a woman who always wore those Coil things,,they look strange, but she swore by them.

I too love crocs, but do not wear them to work as we are required to wear white shoes. I wish they would come out with a white croc.

I wear Quarks. Easy to clean and very comfortable. Because I have

a wider foot I have to wear knee hi hose the first couple of weeks

until they stretch out a little, then I can wear socks.

Would your employer let you wear the "Pearl"-colored Crocs? I know it's not an exact white, but it is pretty close.
