shoe recommendations?

I know, I know....you've all been asked this probably a million times, but out of all the nurses, I feel you would know the best shoes to buy for long shifts! I'm just a student right now, but I have a little scoliosis...so shoes are important to me!! Please help!! Thank you!!

Ok, here's my two cents worth, (bout a penny U.S) LOL, anyway, I swear by Nike Air Walkers. I also buy new ones every 6 months. My physiotherapist recommended it. Apparently even tho the outside is great, the inside has usually lost the essential support within 6 mos. Since starting this regime, I find I no longer have back aches or sore feet. Now I am frugal, so I have about 10 pair of runners here!!! I hate throwing my runners out. I still have runners from nursing school!!! Tres pathetic huh?? I have tried Birkenstocks, but always go back to my Nikes.

Tiiki, you're right about your shoes wearing out in six months. The average shoe can only take 300 miles of walking. The sole will then no longer support your feet and back properly. I have a ton of shoes that look brand new but are useless for work because of the lack of support they provide. It is important to get the proper shoe for your foot no matter what brand is your preference. A good sole is my primary goal when searching for a shoe. Right now I am wearing Sketcher's because the price is right for what I call "disposable" shoes. I have about 100 miles left on these ones then it's back to shopping again. I also have two sizes of shoes because of my arthritis. I call the larger size my fat shoes when my feet flare up.

Who says we're heading for the golden years must have meant fool's gold!

I have tried all kinds of nurse shoes, running and walking shoes, none of them worked for me. I work 12 hour shifts in the ER and I finally found the perfect pair of shoes. "Anywears" are rubber clogs with replaceable insoles. You can throw them in the top rack of the dishwasher and they're clean and sterilized. You can replace your insoles wether they are Dr. Scholes or orthotic insoles as much or as often as you need to. Most scrub places sell them. And mines only cost me about $35.00

S.A.S.!!! Anywhere from $100-$120 but well worth it. In school I was buying new white shoes every month or so because my feet would hurt so bad and as students we were not allowed to wear anything that even resembled an athletic shoe. I wish I'd known about SAS then!
