Shoe question...

I'm a senior nursing student about to go into my preceptor in one of the local Trauma I EDs. (This is also where I want to work when I graduate) For Christmas, I need a really good pair of shoes. I'm almost 22 and have already had 2 knee surgeries. Any suggestions? I have been wearing nike tennis shoes and after 8 hours my back, legs and heels are in a fair amount of pain. Any suggestions on a good shoe that will stand up 12+ hours?

I have a question about Danskos. Do any of you who wear them have wide feet? I usually have to wear wide shoes and as far as I know Danskos only come in medium. I tried to try some on but they didn't have my size, only smaller ones, so I don't know. I don't want to spend that much money if I don't know if they'll fit. Right now I have nursemates but they are 2 years old and literally falling apart. I've had bad luck in finding replacements that fit well. They don't make the style that I have anymore.

I agree with the others . . . CROCS are absolutely the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They are SO comfortable. When someone pukes on them you can submerge them in water, shake them dry and put them back on. They have a non-slip sole, so if the floor is wet you won't fall. Best of all, they're only $30! I should get paid to endorse them.

For crocs wearers do you get the ones with the holes in them or the ones that are completly closed? I am afraid I will spill something on my feet but think the closed ones will be too hot. Any suggestions?

I have both, but I like the ones with the holes better.

I've tried lots of kinds of shoes. Ones that felt comfy for me included Birkenstocks and many styles of SAS shoes (many SAS shoes don't look like tennies or nurses' shoes, which makes me happy since I've worked psych forever, and we try to wear regular=-people clothes).

I own the ones with holes. I thought the ones without would be too hot, although I never tried them.

As far as spilling things, yes, I have occasionally spilled things on them, but it doesn't seem to be a problem as long as you wear socks. You can always change the socks, although I've never had to. In that respect I don't see how a spill on your feet while wearing socks would be any different than a spill on your body while wearing scrubs.

I work in ED so I always have a change of cloths anyway.
