Hi out there,
I am new here and was readind through many different threads, just to get a feeling what
concerns the nursing community, especially IEN´s.
I was troubled reading about conserns to be not sponsored by employer or agency, or how
to pay for exams and travel expenses.
Some are looking for the easiest way to come to the US or Canada, hoping to find well
payed jobs, without nursing experience.
It is arrogant to think that these countries are just searching me! There is no easy way to immigrate
it always will require patience and hard work! Times are rough and all western countries and
governments have to overcome recession.
Everyone seeking immigration should have available funds, and not expect public financing!
Of course I have my own dream of immigration, but I am willing to take all efforts that are needed.
I am not naive, I started preparing 18 month ago, experienced setbacks but I know someday...
Live your dreams instead of dreaming your life and hold on to reality and take nothing for granted.

Thanks. No really, over the years the International threads have been some of the "hottest". Some nurses just expect to be handed migration papers with their diplomas/degrees because they feel entitled.
Nursing isn't the golden ticket to a new future.
By the way congratulations on Deutchlands win today!

What amazes me is the ones that once they realize that moving to the US is not a piece of cake think they will "settle" for Canada. Then they are surprised to discover that they also have to meet standards and go through a process to move there too.
I get the feeling that they have been sold a bill of goods by unscrupulous marketers for sketchy nursing schools. Become a nurse! You'll make a fortune! Foreign countries are just full of nursing jobs and these jobs will just fall into your lap!Immigration is easy and free because you are a nurse!

Nahhh no longer Canada, its Australia now..... comments like, It will have to be Australia due to retrogressiion, Oh I hope they do not expect higher education or higher, english, or education, or even hope they (new board) don't want experience cause I have sat on my b.... for the past 3 years, or 'just go out rural''( because Australia, are implementing a new national nurses board) I find offensive, for my profession and for my community. BTW I live in the country (rural) Need nurses with lots of experience more so out here.
Surely a nurse from anywhere will lack many, skills if they have not practised, not alone never practised as a sole practitioner in their own country. I know this is not what we are supposed to be doing in this day in age, suppposed to be thinking of no borders and globalisation and most likely will be considered racist, but as a nurses we hold our clients/patients/consumers close and we do not see it is their duty to orientate an international nurse that has not practised even in their own country with poor language skills of the new country, that does not understand their (clients) health needs and understanding those.
Now I know Australia has required nurses in the past and now, to care for our community, but its for nurses with experience and communications skills that can jump in where there has been nobody.
There are lots of new graduates from our own universities trying to get positions and gain experience.
Roll on the National Nurses and Midwifery Board of Australia and please keep prereqs higher!

Would doubt the US would be on anyone's list for employment at this time. Unemployment remains in the double digits for most states. The housing market has tanked. Expenses continue to rise.
Heck....maybe I should look elsewhere...lol!
I am sure that if you ask people in less developed countries, they still are hoping to find a way to come to their "Holy Land USA" and if not possible they try, Canada, Australia, NZ...than Europe!
Not everyone is immigrating because of better job prospects!
