Hi!

I'm starting this thread for anyone who applied to the Sharp New Grad Residency for Summer 2022. Good luck everyone!

@talkingbird Good to know, thank you. I am suppose to start June at Grossmont.

I am starting in June at Grossmont!

@newgradnurse0898 yay! I will in tele. Which unit are you starting at? Can you please let me know if you received anything from them? And I will do the same. Thank you

I have received an offer letter and am beginning the onboarding process. I’ll be on the WHO unit!

Hello! I received an email (choosing top 3 choices) regarding interview opportunity for June program at Sharp Memorial. I did rsvp with my top 3 choices. May I know how long it would take to receive an invitation for the interview? because I am currently not in CA, I need to relocate to San Diego. I appreciate all your answers!

@newgradnurse0898 OMG, I did the reference check but haven't heard back since then. I followed up via email this morning, hoping to hear back soon. Thank you for letting me know.

The reference check is a good sign! That usually means that they want to hire you so long as your references check out.

Update on Mary Birch L&D: They just completed interviews for the May/June cohorts. They plan to have interviews for the September cohort soon, but invitations have not been sent out.

@talkingbird what were your interview questions like?

Why Sharp and that particular unit. A difficult patient encounter. How I took initiative in a situation that was a safety issue. Valuable criticism that I received in the past. Describe a time when I experienced a “win” (that one was so random imo LOL). Describe a stressful situation and the steps I took afterwards.

Honestly it was a lot of scenario based questions so have lots of past situations ready. It was like rapid fire questions. 3 interviewers and they all took turns asking questions. Interview was no more than 30 min.

Long shot question here - has anyone been able to move their start date back for those who have received offers for June (Grossmont)? I received an offer for June but I live out-of-state and am worried about the time frame with moving and all. I'm not sure if Sharp even allows this, but I wanted to see if anyone was in a similar boat or had experience with this!

On another note, good luck to everyone still interviewing/waiting! For me, I interviewed on Teams, got a call later that day that I made it to the reference check portion and completed it within 2 days, then received an offer several days later via phone call.

I didn’t have any clinical questions! All behavioral. I feel like they were really looking for the right personalities to fit on the unit rather than skill set. Sharp really emphasizes culture so I think it’s important to answer your questions as someone who can benefit the team (communication, team work, leadership, etc.)
