Hi all, just wanted to start at thread for all those applying to to Sharp Healthcare's summer new grad program for Grossmont, Memorial, and CV!

The application is supposed to open up tomorrow (2/18) at noon and I would love if all of us who are applying can keep each other updated ?

Good luck everyone!

I applied to ED first choice but shot myself in the foot from the start. I got my denial email this week and it's probably bc I didn't check the box that asked if I had 90 hours preceptorship in ED. But to be fair the Sharp website had 2 different requirement descriptions for the ED posts. One said they require ED preceptorship and the other said ED preceptorship or clinical experience and which I did have. But of course, the application didn't stipulate that. Oh well... you live and learn. Still waiting to hear back from my second pic-Med Surg.

I’m sorry to hear that! Do you mind me asking which ED you applied to? I applied to ED as well, at Grossmont.

Correct me if I’m wrong.....

but from my understanding I thought the second choice was only being considered if our first choice was cancelled??? Like if the program was being cancelled? So I thought that basically if you got denied from your first, you’re basically denied overall?

But feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!!

What it said on the new grad application: applicants are ONLY considered for their first choice unless 1) their first choice program is completely cancelled and no o e starts it, or 2) if their second choice has room for more applicants (this is highly unlikely. Either no people applied to that department or they weren’t happy with any of the applicants and want to look at more applications).

So - for almost everyone - my understanding is also that our first shot is our only shot.

Hi there! I'm an internal candidate. Can I ask you how you heard this information? Reason being is that I put my current unit of work at Grossmont as my second choice (put another unit as my first choice) and I never heard this from my educator who told me to make sure I apply. I just don't see a point in it being this way? ? I don't understand why the second choice would only be considered if the first is cancelled. Just wanted to hear your insight in case there was something I missed!

It was listed on the application

Where on the application did it say this? Maybe I missed it because I don't recall.

Do you remember which part of it? Was your application internal or external? Maybe I'm crazy but I really just can't remember reading this! Lol ?

Ohhhh I see it now. It was in the original posting. Sorry about that!

Anyone else get a ranking email for Sharp Memorial?
