Anyone know about Shands chain of hospitals? Not-for-profit, located in Gainesville.
THEY ARE RECRUITING AND HAVE CALLED ME
LET ME KNOW ASAP
Thanks BETSRN. :) So you are saying that Shands at AGH is in fact located in the city of Alachua? I am confused because when I checked on the internet it said that Shands at AGH is located in Gainesville?
I was told by someone who works at another hospital that the AGH stands for Alachua General Hospital. Shands took them over several years ago.

That is correct it is now known as Shands at AGH. It is in downtown Gainesville.
The city of Alachua is small. No hospitals. There is some form of clinic there.
The city if Alachua is just north of Gainesville about 15 miles from Shands,VA and AGH.
i tried it, listened to their lies, they are a very dirty hospital, and their pt's get very poor care, i was shocked at how little septic technique they use, if you want to go to gainsville, try north florida regional, the pay is a little less, but it is very clean and nice.
Someone from Miami what can be expected?
Shands is one of the top hospitals in the United States and compare to North Florida Regional they shouldn't be compared. Stop HATING GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gainesville is also located in the county of Alachua. So Alachua is a city as well as a county.
It can get a bit confusing! :)
For anyone that knows.....
how do the Gainesville Shands compare with Shands in Jacksonville? I know that Jax takes alot of uninsured/underinsured/Medicare/Medicaid and is a level 1 trauma center. I'd like to work ER when I'm done with school, but I have concerns about doing my 6 months of Med Surg in Jacksonville.
What is your concern with doing med-surg in Jax? The patient populations are not that much different. Shands Jax is actually larger than UF. Also, if an ER position is your goal then Jax would be better as it sees more trauma patients than UF. The trauma center at UF is relatively new and they are still working out the kinks. However, they are building a new trauma facility as the old one was not well planned.
