SFSU Spring 2020

Is anyone applying for spring?

Let's check in here to keep track of the admissions process.

My stats:

GPA 4.0

TEAS 97.3

Healthcare experience: 10 years as an in-home caregiver

No multicultural experience or other languages. That's definitely my biggest weakness.

If they time this out like previous cycles, interview invitations should go out in mid-October and program decisions in late November.

Good luck, everyone!

I've heard that there are usually about 400 applicants, 100 interviews, and 40 admitted. They make their selections based on the combo of application strength and interview. No pressure, lol.

Oh wow! I’ve been hearing there’s about 1200 applicants...? And 80 are admitted, not 40! (I think so, according to BSN fact sheet if I remember correctly they accept 80!!)

Maybe that's spring and fall? I heard 20 in the fall, 40 in the spring. It's hard to keep track of all the programs and their numbers!

From their website: Typically 600-700 applications are received for 60-80 spaces each academic year.

So that's for both fall and spring.

Ohhh yes ur right!! It says 80 in one academic year so yeah maybe 40/40 per semester. Either way I’m so happy and proud we got the invite for interview ? good luck!!

Got an interview good luck to everyone !

Ooooh! I didn't read close enough! I applied to the ELM-A. Did anyone who applied for that program get an interview invite yet? Doesn't the program begin in Spring?

The questions were very general and also random "describe a time when you showed this quality" type. The interview was 4 of us and three of them and we each had 2 cards in front of us with the questions written on the back where we couldn't see them. They'd pick someone at random, you'd flip the card, read the question for the first time, and answer it as best as possible in 3 minutes. You couldn't take more than 3 because they had to get through 8 questions in 30 min. All in all it was 2 questions and 6 minutes max. I think the group aspect was just for them to consolidate time explaining the process.

I hated it as an interview style but think I did well. I managed to work in some of my background but just can't compete with 10 years tech or lvn hospital experience.

The what questions you got were random based on where you chose to sit. Two people got questions that would've suited the other person more, so there's a significant luck component. I wish we all received a list of questions at the beginning and then we're able to choose some and answer in the order we liked. I also wish we got more than 6 minutes to make a case for an incredibly important life changing decision. I'd rather everyone get more of a chance to put their best foot forward.

Good luck and hope this helps!

I want to clarify that I applied for the ELMSN program and this was the interview I received. I noticed a lot of people here are applying for the BSN program and I don't know if they use a different interview format. Best of luck to everyone!

Since I didn't hear anything from State means that I didn't get an interview? Or are they still sending out notifications depending on the program you applied to?

I have no idea. You might want to contact the school.

I believe it could be based on when you applied because I just got invited on the 14th for an interview.
