Is anyone applying for spring?
Let's check in here to keep track of the admissions process.
My stats:
GPA 4.0
TEAS 97.3
Healthcare experience: 10 years as an in-home caregiver
No multicultural experience or other languages. That's definitely my biggest weakness.
If they time this out like previous cycles, interview invitations should go out in mid-October and program decisions in late November.
Good luck, everyone!
Hello, I think your stats are fine. I think this year, the spaces for the SFSU nursing program will be even more competitive than usual since several schools around the area are currently no longer taking in new incoming cohorts due to not being unable to find clinical placements for students (Cal State East Bay). I also heard that SFSU is also reducing the numbers of incoming students as well. So you basically have fewer spots at SFSU in addition to other schools closing down, so students that would normally go to other schools in the area, would all apply to SFSU for fewer spots.
When I was interviewing (pre-Covid), it was a group interview where they would interview 4 in a room. They would have 2 cards with random questions flipped upside down on the table. They would allow you to first ask some questions to the interviewers before they would randomly pick someone to answer the questions on the cards. I think they are doing over Zoom now. Even though some of the questions may sound random, the core to these questions is to inquire about things like: your ability to time manage, strong ethics, what is your personal experience and motivation with nursing, stress management, etc. If you understand the core of what the questions are really asking, you can adapt your answer to what the interviewers want to hear.
Hope that helps and good luck
