I feel you about the letter of recs... I had my same three recommenders help me out w/ 3 schools already. I still have to ask them for 1 more... SFSU. I have plans to send my recommenders huge & generous thank you gifts once I get in... if I get in... It's so nerve racking. And, I have the same question as you regarding what specialty to choose. I really want to be a FNP, but I have no idea which one to choose since I can't pick FNP in the generic MSN program?
Applications are stressful and I just got my recommendations this week after giving them months to do it. But its okay.
Quick Question: I am about to send in my SFSU nursing app and wanted to know if i did the prerequisite part right. For course # and title there is such a small space to type in. For example for anatomy I just put
Anatomy 134, spring 09, school, grade grade
I tried to fit human anatomy but the space was too small. Do they just want us to put the courses like "Biology 134" and "psych 121"? Also what is the lab was not a separate course? Do we put the same grade in both lecture and lab?
Thank you for the help if anyone can answer.
sugarlips, I have no idea regarding switching tracks... I was torn between Community Nursing & Maternal/Child CNS. I wanted to choose Public Health/Community Nursing because I work @ SFDPH, and most of the nurses I've worked with in the different clinics seem to love their jobs & have stuck w/ it for many years. I like the idea of being able to do many different roles in diversified settings. But, I want to be an FNP, and the maternal/child CNS track may be a better fit. In addition, I love kids, babies, the whole pregnancy/birthing process, so in the end, I went w/ the latter.
O just a note, I called sfstate admissions about a mix up on my transcripts (which was fixed yay) and they gave me some info.
The sfsu admissions rep said right now most, if not all, the applications should be in review by the nursing department. At least they said my status was in review...Admissions said they handed the transcripts over to nursing already.

I went to their website today and found that the nursing application has now been posted. Due date is January 15, 2010. Now it's time to bug my professors for another round of forms and letters. I have one letter, but need the form to get filled out. It's so embarrassing to go back to the same people. I feel like I owe them the world. What's the most number of requests anyone has asked one person?
Anyway back to the application itself. On it you have to choose a Graduate Program Emphasis. If my goal is to become a Diabetes Educator, should I choose Adult Acute CNS or Maternal/Child CNS, or should I choose Public Health? Does anyone know if we can change specialties mid-stream?
Thanks.
