Hi Everyone! I did a search for SFSU ELMSN Fall 2017 and I didn't see any active threads so I thought I'd start one. This is my second year submitting program applications, first year to SFSU. I graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Management in 2012 and have been working for the past 4 years volunteering, prepping for entrance exams and completing prerequisites for a variety of nursing programs. I am hoping this year will be there. I'm also applying to Samuel Merritt's ABSN program, USF's Masters program for Non-Nurses, University of Hawai'i's GEPN program and Johns Hopkins University's MEPN program. Would anyone care to share their stats? Best of luck and Happy Holidays!!
Thanks @_mcdmcd! Pretty excited, yes. I'm hesitant to share my stats because I don't want to make you anxious. I know we all want to compare ourselves to others to gauge the probability of getting an interview or an acceptance but in my experience, all the schools, SFSU included, truly take a holistic approach to the process. Nursing schools are keen on building a diverse cohort--diverse as in work, volunteer, and life experiences. I was worried that my undergrad academic record wasn't competitive so I applied to a handful of schools, and I'm now finding that the schools really did consider my entire application and not just my GPA and GRE scores.
So stand proud! ok, getting off the soapbox now...
I just called the SON to get a status update. She said final decisions should be made the 2nd week of April. I asked if we hadn't received an invitation for an interview at this point were we no longer being considered and she wasn't very clear..essentially her answer was "not necessarily." I am not sure what that means.
i think that it's similar to previous years where if an interviewee drops out last minute they'll call the person next on the list. last year's forum people we're getting calls to do interviews the day off and someone even mentioned they were told they took a dropouts spot.
what specialty did you all apply as? I applied for adult/gerontology.
