SFSU BSN Fall 2014 Applicants

Published

Hello, I created this post to see the overall applicant pool applying on Fall 2013 for the academic year 2014-2015. I wanted to open a new thread for those of you who are planning to apply to the BSN prelincensure program to SFSU, to share additional information, support each other, and to see how fierce the competition will be for this upcoming academic year.

For you,

Overall GPA:

Prereq GPA:

TEAS V Score:

Supplemental Criteria:

I haven't finished all of the requirements but when I do I'll update it.

Overall GPA: 3.55

Prereq GPA: 3.44 (still need physio lab and anatomy)

TEAS V Score: N/A (still in progress)

Supplemental Criteria: over 100 hours at SFGH (multi-cultural/health-related work), 3 semesters of Spanish (bilingual), and letter of recommendation (if applicable).

Thank you all and I wish all of you the best of luck, may the odds be ever in your favor!

I'm still waiting. It's nice to know that people have begun hearing things. I'm hoping that no news is good news. CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE ACCEPTED AND WAIT LISTED! I hope things work out for all of us.

I'm still waiting. Going to try calling tomorrow.

@PeterTang

I can't believe that!! I would go into the office and see if they made a mistake :( I can't imagine they would weight the TEAS that much, but what other factors could they be considering? It make no sense.

I got into the BSN program at Canada College!! So excited!! Got my email last night:

he Sequoia School of Nursing Admission Committee is pleased to inform you that we are recommending the SF State Office of Undergraduate Admissions offer to you for Fall 2014 admission into the BSN program. The recommendation is contingent upon you meeting minimum university admission requirements and being deemed eligible for undergraduate studies by university Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff. Allow at least one week for that final process to occur. To reserve a space in the program, submit a BSN Response Form (attached) directly to the School of Nursing, you may mail or drop off the form to our office located at Cañada College, SF State Nursing, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd, building 18, room 207, Redwood City, CA 94061, attention: Admissions Counselor. Those who reserve a space will be sent a nursing orientation packet in late June.

Please be aware that SF State/Sequoia School of Nursing tuition has increased and students will be paying $400 per unit beginning in the Fall of 2014.

We look forward to seeing you in the fall and hope your experience here will be both enjoyable and educationally rewarding.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann van Dam, RN, PhD, PNP

Director, SF State School of Nursing

Has anyone heard back from the APO RN-BSN program??:down:

Omg how can this be...I got waitlisted 149 with a 3.97 prereq GPA, 3.95 overall and over 250 hrs of direct patient care experience. Although I have an 83.3% on my TEAS, I didnt expect it to be that low on the list ....

Are you and out-of-state applicant?

@PeterTang

i think they put a lot of weight on the TEAS this year. My gpa isn't great but I got 94% on the Teas and got in.

It sounds like supplemental points were really important too.

No I go to SFSU, looks like I better change my major...I worked so dam hard for this. I would have never known that the TEAS weighed that much since I was so busy working for that GPA as well as volunteering tons of hrs at the hospital :l Looks like hard work doesn't pay off as I thought it did.

Yeah Im sorry about that, Im not sure how they distribute rankings but You can always reapply to another program. If its what you want to do and you have worked so hard for it, dont give up. I understand your parents dont want you to apply elsewhere but if nursing is your passion, you have to make it happen.

They are deferring the APO RN program til fall 2015. :( did you get an email from sfsu nursing? I did.

@PeterTang You can try and apply for USF. They admit students for spring semester there, although they are a private school.
