Fellow Humans:

What is your opinions regarding working at a facility that works seven 10 hour shifts followed by seven days off from work with a full benefit package including vacation time. If I accept this job I will have to only work 24 weeks a year.

Also, I forgot to mention that there is a two hour overlap between shifts, so I will only have 2-3 patients for those hours that the shift overlaps.

It is tempting --can you do it for a few months and then stop if it is too challenging. I have a 6month contract with my baylor schedual.

On occasion I have worked 4-12hour shifts in a row and let me tell you, my legs and feet are hurting--it takes me at least a day to recover and then the 2nd night off I have trouble sleeping.

A 10 hour day is prob going to be an 11 hour day so I'd factor that in. On top of that you will need to add in your commute. It's a lot of days in a row so I think you'll be dead on your feet towards the end of it. Is it a day shift?! Do you think you will be able to give quality care that many days in a row?!

It is 10 hours period because of the two hour shift overlap between the shifts.

Are you misspelling 'shifts' and leaving out the 'f'?

As far as the question, if you can hack 7 days in a row, then it might be a great deal. I've known people who worked this type of deal and loved it because they got such a big chunk of time off.

I would do it in a heartbeat!

Yes, I love the idea. Plus, I have worked 10 hours a day six days a week for 5 months straight so I think that having one week off in between would be great.

It would be nice for vacations. I worked 4 ten hour shifts but I wasn't a nurse either. I know that after working 3-4 12's in a row I am out of sorts. I guess it just depends on what you are used to .

lol. Cake Walk. I've worked 35 days straight. I paid the damn price though. It seems do-able.

Go for it. Just imagine loafing around the house for 2 weeks a month!!! wheeew!!! road trip any

time you like. Visit lost relatives. Do it!!! I would. I just like work too much though.

I use to work 8, 8 hour shifts in a row with 6 days off. I loved it. I rarely ever used vacation time as I just plain didn't need it. I would go for it.
