Seminole State - UCF Concurrent Program Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone, thought I would start a support group for the SSC/UCF Concurrent Program starting Fall 2012 hopefuls :) Is everyone getting their applications ready for submission... the deadline is approaching quickly!

Accepting the concurrent and denying the A.S. for someone who needs it :)

Congrats to those who got their acceptance letters, and those who haven't yet, don't stress too much! Last semester, some of us received our emails hours to days after others. I got both of my emails on Friday afternoon, but some people didn't hear anything until Monday or later.

Do not deny the AS acceptance! SSC sends you an email saying that you were accepted in the generic program, then if you are concurrent, UCF will send you another email stating that you've been accepted to the concurrent program. DO NOT DENY THE AS ACCEPTANCE, or you will not be in the program!

Thanks for clearing that up spanky!! Hopefully it's not too late for some ppl

I haven't been contacted at all yet... Does that mean I'm not being accepted?

I haven't been contacted either... hoping the email arrives next week... if not, i won't even bother opening the rejection letter that comes via snail mail...

Yes. I am pretty sure you print out the email and sign-it. To make sure, I would call! Congrats!

anyone just apply for the AS and get in yet?

I also got into concurrent program, so excited! Congrats to those who got in and good luck! Can't wait to meet you all!!!

I have gotten nothing and this is going to be the 8th week. should I be looking out for an email or mail??

Dear Sir or Madam

Thank you for applying to the Fall 2012 Seminole State College of Florida Associate in Science (RN-AS) Nursing program. We regret to inform you that you have not been admitted at this time.

Students selected for the Fall 2012 RN-AS class meet all of the minimum selection criteria. In addition, each applicant had a minimum 3.0 recalculated GPA and finished their prerequisites in Fall 2010 or earlier. The complete selection process for the A.S. degree only seats can be found on the Nursing webpage at http://www.seminolestate.edu/nursing/ .

Question: how does one improve his/her prereq GPA if one can not retake classes? Ie, got a B in AP but can't retake to get an A. I know I can retake TEAS but if the application sorters (students) sort by GPA (as opposed to TEAS score), am I forever stuck at 3.3? Thanks!

It is unfair that SSC doesn't allow repeats. However, I'm not sure why one would want just an ASN degree when the career is definitely moving towwards a BSN as the entry level degree. Many hospitals are requiring BSN's in order to apply for positions. A BSN also allows one to advance into a MSN or DNP program. The concurrent is probably easier to get into due to the fact that there are many more seats available and UCF allows you to repeat courses. For those who applied to the general program why did you decide to go that route over the concurrent? Are there any advantages I'm not privy to?
