Hi everyone, thought I would start a support group for the SSC/UCF Concurrent Program starting Fall 2012 hopefuls :) Is everyone getting their applications ready for submission... the deadline is approaching quickly!

For the concurrent and basic program I know that people who have completed all their prereqs by the time they apply have a better chance of being accepted.

Has anyone heard anything about the Valencia concurrent program? My friend was waitlisted for the ucf basic program and is anxious to get accepted somewhere.

It seems that acceptance letters should be sent soon.

I called College of Nursing today about the Valencia concurrent program and was told acceptance letters will be emailed in mid June. :)

Wanted to let everyone who got accepted into the UCF/Seminole Concurrent that allheart.com has the uniform pants we need on sale right now for $10. I believe they are typically around $20-$25. A girlfriend of mine in the Transition program at Seminole told me what kind we will need so I've ordered them. Make sure you order Landau brand in Royal Blue with the elastic waist. It's a great price and will help save a little money and order an extra few pairs for the same price. Hope this is helpful to everyone. See you at orientation!

hi there, i would like to apply to both the ssc asn and the ssc/ucf to bsn concurrent programs. i am hearing how difficult it is to get in. i'm wondering if i'm putting my eggs (and time and money) in the wrong basket here, and if i should just bail and go the keiser/herzing route.

here are my questions (if you could help, i would sooo much appreciate it...):

if you got in, which program did you get in to?

what did you get in with? (gpa, teas score)

how long did you have to wait to get in? (from application to acceptance)

do you like the program?

It's ridiculous to say but it varies depending on many factors. For the last 2 semesters classes have been in the early morning. Next semester the classes seem to be in the afternoon. You will have at least one 10 hour day per week devoted to clinical time, plus more time needs to be allotted for an extra trip to the hospital to pick up your clinical assignment and prepare. It is very time consuming, especially in the beginning, but it doesn't take me as long as it used to.

What I can tell you is I am in the concurrent program, work part time, and have 2 small kids. It's not impossible but you and your family must be flexible.

Did anyone apply to the RT program @ Seminole State? If so, have you heard anything back yet?

I applied to the RN generic track during the last application cycle, but didn't get accepted. So, I decided to apply to the RT program and eventually transition over.... However, I haven't heard anything back yet. :(

Congrats on getting into a great program. I am almost finished with SSC and want to sell my Fundamentals of Nursing, Med. Surg., Pharmachology, dosage calc. and a fundamentals success book. The whole set for $200.

I wouldn't put all of my eggs into one basket but I would avoid Herzing, ITT Tech, and Keiser at all costs. Their credits don't transfer anywhere else so you could run into a problem if you ever want to further your education. You'd be better off applying to SSC, Valencia, UCF, and FHCHS.

I am currently in my 3rd semester at SSC, doing the concurrent program. I got in with a GPA of 3.5 and I think my TEAS were a 76%. I got in my first time applying, as I was finishing up my last 2 pre-reqs. That's pretty rare though. What probably helped me was that I already have a bachelors and masters in other areas.

I love the program! My classmates are the best and the professors are great. Clinicals are lots of fun and I feel like I am learning so much. I definitely would recommend it.

I have a question... when you applied to the concurrent program. Did you get your orientation and immunization hold from UCF removed BEFORE you were accepted? I am trying to figure out if it's worth paying to get the shots that I may need or if I should wait for an acceptance/rejection letter first.

How did you guys do it? Will having those 2 holds on my UCF student center prevent me from being accepted in any way into the program?

BTW...congrats to all of you and I hope you are enjoying the program so far.
