My hospital is a closed shop and has SEIU Healthcare. They are useless. I've been in a Teachers' union which may have been a bit too strong looking back, but now I'm in a very weak, anemic union and which I had something in the middle.
Do YOU have any experience with SEIU Healthcare? Can you share them? I'm trying to figure out if it just a bad union for nurses or it's my local that's bad.
Thanks!!!

What do you mean by SEIU healthcare? I am a member of SEIU but it's not a brand of healthcare.

There is a hospital near where I live that has SEIU representation; SEIU brought approximately one hundred nurses there "the weekends", along with a bunch of weekdays, too. Another nearby hospital, similarly represented, has a 30-bed Med/Tele unit in which three RN's is the standard staffing.

I believe SEIU Healthcare represents those in skilled nursing facilities.
Any union is only as strong as its members. Have you talked to your union, expressed your concerns?
