I didn't see any content here on Allnurses regarding the 2020 cohort for Seattle University's APNI-DNP program so I will start one here. Anyone else applying?

@rachel.leone I did! They count a Master's degree as something separate but still calculate the G.P.A. from the last two years of your B.A. They also calculate A&P I, A&P II, and Microbiology as a separate G.P.A. calculation.
Since you're applying for the psych track too, I thought you'd find it encouraging that they usually receive between 35 - 50 applicants for that track and accept 10 - 15 so the odds aren't terrible!
Here is the timeline they gave us:File Reviews: December - FebruaryInterviews: FebruaryAdmissions Decisions Released: MarchWait List Admissions as spots become available : March - June
Overall the session covered what they have listed on the site as far as how they make determinations (scoring candidates), items needed for the application, the program schedule as a whole, and financial aid. ?

Hi @rachel.leone! Sorry for the late reply but yes the details that @Kara Vollman shared is correct! I am trying to get into the Adult-Gerontology track so I'm a little intimidated by the odds of getting into my desired program. One other thing to add is since December 1st falls on a Sunday, you can submit your application by December 2. I also managed to get screenshots of some of the slides in the presentation, which I can share as soon as I pull them from my phone. Have any of you guys already submitted transcripts?
@kmd1005 I ordered all of my transcripts but have them coming to my house since there are four of them!! ? They're sealed so I'll just see if I can mail them or drop them off. Even with the low applicant rate for psych, I'm feeling intimidated by the G.P.A. calculation!! I got my B.A. in 2004 and my grades were less than stellar back then. Anyone else concerned about that? Also - I have been taking the final prerequisite courses that I need but the departments are so varied that I haven't really formed a close enough relationship with a professor to ask for a recommendation and prior to that I've been out of school for 14 years!I know they said in the session that we can use someone we've worked on a project with, but it sounded like a professor is ideal. Is anyone else dealing with this?

@Kara Vollman awesome! I went ahead and ordered all of my transcripts ? and yes I too am in a similar situation. I have been out of school for a few years now and I did ask the admissions coordinator at the time, Chelsa (who is no longer there), and she said that you can use previous or current bosses who can vouch for your ability to take on graduate level work. I also had been shadowing a NP for the last 2 years here and there so she is one of my references. I am also asking a couple of my current and former managers to fill one out as they've worked with me enough years to see how I work. A professor is probably ideal but as long as whoever is filling out these recommendations for you knows your skills and abilities then I think that is sufficient. You got this! ?

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the information! I am glad to hear that the odds are not terrible for the psych track. As far as my transcripts go I also have 4!! I only have one more to sort out and then they will be checked off my list. As far as letters of recommendation go, I have a psych NP that is writing one for me and I also have a professor that wrote one for me. I can relate to the difficulty in finding a professor because my undergrad was a different time for me. ( I graduated 2013). I agree that anyone who can speak to your ability to succeed in a doctorate level program is the purpose so I imagine anyone who can do this for you would work!
My grades were also not stellar in 2013, but luckily my classes I've taken since graduating have been able to show my ability to be successful.
I am still working on my statement and I imagine I will be till late November!
We all got this and now we just have to wait!! ?

Hi folks! I'm applying to the FNP track in the APNI program.
I noticed it says to write a brief "letter of intent" on the application. Are we suppose to write this with a traditional letter format (w/ the recipient's name on the lefthand side)? When I googled "letter of intent," it seemed really similar to writing a cover letter for a job.
Hi @Happy Meow I attended the virtual information session, they would like for your letter of intent to be in essay format: Times New Roman font, 12 pt, double spaced, 2-3 pages.
I did include my name and my chosen specialty track and cohort year on every page, but I'm sure you can indicate what you'd like just as long as it follows the format.
Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up! I'm registered for an upcoming session, but it helps to hear this now. Good luck to you as well.
Happy Monday guys! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I submitted mine Nov 30 (honestly was worried because I had someone who still did not complete a recommendation I sent them several weeks ago). Thankfully I had a backup who was more than willing to do one, albeit last minute. Anyone else here already sent theirs in?
I sent mine in for the FNP track. Now we play the lovely waiting game!
I wonder how many applicants there were this year.
One of my recommenders waited till the first! Made me nervous haha.
I sent mine in for PMHNP!
Good luck everyone! Will be in touch once word comes in :)

Hi y'all! I applied for the Adult-Gerontology track. I'm worried that I don't look so great on paper. But I am going for it anyway. I think that if I get an interview I will do better in person haha.
I keep wondering what the acceptance rate is. Did they say at the info session? I couldn't get out of work to go to it.
