Seattle University APNI 2015

U.S.A. Washington

Well, I know it's early.

Anyone applying for 2015 start?!?

Thank you for the input. I find it interesting that NP programs that I have looked into seem so much more communicative and REALLY look at the "whole picture". PA programs DO NOT encourage interest in any other field, and you are basically out of the running if you mention that you attempted entry into medical school and PA was the "back up" plan. I am unsure how to work this journey into an already completed essay... so we'll see. Hopefully I can score an interview and talk about it in person.

Yeah, I think direct entry master's in nursing programs are definitely more accepting because usually you have to have a BSN to apply for a MSN so this program literally is for people who have come from other careers and non science/nursing backgrounds and aren't registered nurses already. Good luck to to you! :)

I graduated this summer from the Community Health program. You?

What a small world! You are the 5th WWU alum I know of applying to the APNI program this year.

By the way, which Gen chem are you listing as you chem prereq? I also took the whole chem series, and my Chem 123 grade is better than my Chem 121 grade... so I am thinking about listing Chem 123 instead. What did you do?

Also, have you looked into PLU's direct entry program? I have no idea if their deadline has passed or not, I am not applying there. You may want to look into that as another option too!

Hello AllNurses Seattle U 2015 Applicants,

There is a APNI applicants page on FB that our cohort started last year that is full of all types of information and bits of knowledge. We just changed the name to "Seattle University APNI Applicants" and removed the 2014 in the title. You are more than welcome to join and look through the information that was amassed over the application process last year. AllNurses does not allow links directly to the page to be posted here, but you can still do the search on FB and find us that way.

We want that page to be a legacy to other groups that would be able to be passed down as an information repository. If you would like to a be added to the group (it is closed and we would like to keep it that way so that the general public doesn't have access to posts), search for the name of the group and feel free to request to be added.

Good luck with your applications. I know that they are due shortly!

That is kind of crazy! WWU had a lot of students interested in medicine without any defined pre-nursing or mid-level providers tracks (when I was an undergrad) so it doesn't surprise me.

I am also listing Chem 123 which I hope is ok. I have C's in the others.. I retook 123 this spring after no chem for 5 years and somehow pulled off an A (which I'm hoping they notice), so the A it is!

I did look into PLU- There were 2 issues: I have a C in one Psych class (which I plan on retaking this winter), and I was confused about whether you could earn your NP license upon completion of their MSN program or if you would be expected to finish a DNP program (another 3-5 years). I am looking for NP license.

Lol, I think I will list 123 too then, I also got an A. I had a upward trend in my chem grades, since I went into 121 with NO knowledge of chem at all, and fought hard to just get a B.

I know what you mean. Western now has an RN to BSN program, but WWU would BLOW UP if they had an actual BSN program, I know so many Kin majors who want to go into it, as well as community health. I contemplated transferring to UW or UW Bothell junior year because Western doesn't have a nursing program.

Okay. Essays are done. Phew. Would anyone be willing to read them over? If not, I get it. It is bad enough having to write them. I have read and re-read and re-written them so many times its is making my brain mushy.

Hello, who did everyone address the letter of intent to? Thanks!
