Seattle University APNI 2016 Applicants

Published

I thought I would start a thread for applicants to the 2016 MSN for Non-Nurses: Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion at Seattle University. I am applying for the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. Any other applicants for this cycle? Questions and comments regarding the program and admissions process are welcome!

I did not receive an email either and my contact info is correct on the application.

DeniseNair & Gradschoolapplicant8 - I'm in the same boat as both of you. I was assured that they haven't made any decisions yet. So, if we didn't get an email either the address they have in our application profile is incorrect, or our spam filters ate them. I already verified my address, so I'm assuming the filter ate it, and unfortunately I just emptied my spam folder this last weekend. Anyway, it's not a bad sign to not have received the email, as far as our chances of admission go, but it is something to look into to make sure we don't miss any important information, etc. Hope that helps!

Also, I'm applying to the FPMH track as well. :)

I just double-checked. The "my profile" section of my app tracker had an old email address from my undergrad days. Shoot!

At least that's an easy fix. :) I added the domain @seattleu.edu to my safe list, so now nothing from that domain should go into my spam box. Hopefully, that fixes my issue. I'm just glad to have found out about this now rather than when I'm being contacted for something time sensitive.

Anyone else as anxious as I am, now that we know they're reviewing our applications and we should (hopefully) be hearing back soon-ish? Has anyone heard how many applicants there are this year for each of the tracks?

Thanks for your replies. I did check "My Profile" and my correct email address is there. I'll add @seattleu.edu to my contacts to make sure it doesn't happen again. Glad to find out that no decisions have been made yet. And, yes PallasAthene, I am very anxious. Doing all I can to keep my mind off this but the waiting game is making me nuts!!! Glad to have this forum to connect with other applicants. Good luck to us all. :-)

Yeah, typically I'm pretty good at distracting myself when waiting for something, but this is a bit different. Definitely more anxiety inducing than the usual stuff I have to wait on.

I can't believe how quiet this board is. I know that in previous years there's been a lot of people posting during this point in the wait. I wonder why this year seems much more quiet.

Good luck, everyone! Hopefully, we all hear good news soon. :)

PallasAthene, are you on the Facebook page? Search: Seattle University APNI Applicants. Not very busy but a good place to connect.

Unfortunately, no. I used to use Facebook, but then I stopped and after a couple of years of never using it I finally decided to delete my account.

I wonder how many applicants there were this year. Part of me is scared to know, but mostly I'm just curious.

Here is the text from the email for anyone who missed it. "Thank you for your MSN application for Seattle University. Now understanding the timeline for decisions will help you plan accordingly. Nursing faculty are busy reading completed application files now. Applicants invited to interview will be called or emailed by Nursing staff over the next month for interview dates currently scheduled between January 30-February 27. The timing of admission decisions will vary by specialization starting in mid-February. Best wishes to you in the weeks and months ahead!"

Thank you so much for posting that, historybe! It's nice to know what I missed. Thanks! :)

Hello!

I applied for AGNP speciality. How's everyone holding up on waiting for possible interviews? (just 10 days until the first interview!)

I applied for last year's cycle and did not get accepted, and I definitely remember the stressful wait. It's not as stressful this year especially 'cuz I'm also not taking classes while waiting for news about admission this cycle. Anyways, let me know if you have any questions!

In previous years, the first interview on Jan 30 basically only got like 2 days to prepare so some people opted to do the phone interview.

Hi, curiousrei! For the most part I'm holding ok. I get a bit anxious every now and then when I stop and think about it. I think evenings are the worst for me because I have a lot more free time to stop and think about it, and I'm sure my friends are getting sick of my talking about it. Haha.

I'd seen from threads from past years that sometimes the interview invitations can come with very short notice. I can see how that can be disorienting and frustrating for people. I live in Seattle, but given that I have kids that I need to make sure someone watches, more heads up would be nice, but I'll take what I can get.

Did you go through an interview last year? What was it like and how long do they typically last?
