Seattle University APNI 2019 Applicant Questions?

Published

Hi All,

I remember when I was applying to Seattle U's APNI (Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion) program a couple of years ago there was no information for me out there! So I wanted to circle back and answer any questions applicants or potential applicants might have. I finished the APNI portion last spring and now am in the first year of the primary care FNP/AGNP track.

Good luck to all.

Thank you!!

I feel like they asked me some difficult questions. I went into the interview feeling fairly prepared and I was completely surprised by some on the questions they asked me.

Not very hopeful that I’ll get in because of it but still trying to remain positive!

I think that is completely normal to feel that way! No matter how much you prepare for an interview there is no way to know the questions that will be asked.

I felt pretty good after my interview, but there were those questions that I didn't anticipate and some that I probably could have answered better. I spent the entire day of my interview (I interviewed first thing in the morning) playing over and over in my head what I said and coming up with better answers. Knowing there was going to be quite a while between interviewing and finding out I decided I need to reign that in. I ended up reading an article about stressing after an interview, which really helped calm me down. I of course can't find it now, but it said something along the lines of: the person who interviewed you isn't second guessing everything they said and they aren't second guessing everything you said. I know they listened to my answers, took notes, and are taking into consideration what I said. However, I don't think they are replaying in their head over and over the details of all my answers. That somehow helped me find peace, because at this point I can't change anything.

I second this! Definitely the hardest interview I did (was my forth). The questions seemed to have 3 or 4 parts and I was consistently worried I failed to address one part of them. On top of this, some of them were VERY specific, so I felt I had to be creative to make my own examples which I had thought out ahead of time/used in other interviews fit.

Thank you for sharing! I’m happy to know I’m not the only one replaying my interview in my head. I will stop trying to do that because you’re right they’re definitely not replying my interview. I’m sure you did really well!

This was my third interview and I agree it was the hardest I’ve had. I felt the same way, the multiple questions per question really threw me off. I’m sure you still did well although it was difficult. I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt like this.

Have any FNP applicants gotten interviews recently? I called and they said they were still sending out interviews.

Is that true for other tracks as well?

I am not sure, you could call and ask as well!

Hi all,

I am an APNI-FNP applicant and I just got an interview request today!

Hope that means they are still sending for everyone!

Does anyone know how we will be notified?

Specializes in School Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing.

I believe they send out notices via email.

I received a phone call today from the grad specialist and she told me that if you haven’t heard back about an interview or a rejection, there is still a chance for you (waitlist). She also said there was a large applicant pool this year so it is taking them a little longer but decisions will be sent out this week.
