Seattle U APNI - 2010 Entry

Published

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for Seattle U's APNI program. I thought I'd start a thread because it doesn't look like there is one, yet.

I think we're supposed to hear about interviews sometime soon. Has anyone gotten word, yet?

Thanks for the info, MPHgirl

Congrats malapata! :) I hope I get to join you all later this week!! :uhoh3: I'm getting mighty scared.

I was accepted into the psych with addictions focus track, anyone else?

Nothing yet, but then again I live no where near WA. So I'm hoping its in the mail.

Does anybody know how much longer to give them???

Hey guys!

Sorry, I just dropped off the face of the earth for a little bit. I needed to decompress.

CONGRATULATIONS! to those that have already heard. MPH! Woohoo for you! (and I want to talk to you about the child obesity coalition...also close to my heart)

I haven't heard yet, but I have heard from another program in California (Samuel Merritt). It's a great program, but because I was early accepted, I have to notify them of my decision (and send a deposit) by March 10th. I'm freaking out a little because I don't know if I'll hear from Seattle in that time. For those of you that have received acceptance...what is it? An envelope, an email...I know they aren't consistent with these things. Also, I live in California, are you guys in Washington? I think I might call today to inquire.

General responses to posts I read.

There was a male applicant on my day also, so I don't think you're alone, guys!

The whole inexperienced RN argument....every NP I've talked to about it says one of two things...you DO get lots of experience in school, so don't worry about it. OR. You are not going to be an RN, you are going to be an NP. It's not the same, and you will be prepared to be one. That's what I've been told...repeatedly. ;) Have faith. Don't stress about that.

I also am drawn to Seattle for several reasons. It is my first choice, but unexpectedly. The more I learned about the school and the program the more I fell in love with it. So now I am really hoping to get another big white envelope in the mail this week. I wish all of you the best of luck. My interview was very good...thank you for asking. They are wonderful people. Felt a little rushed at the end, but they had lots of interviews to conduct.

I'll just be stressing about this all week. I will keep you all posted. I'm back from my mental vacation. :)

PS.

For those of you that are and get accepted, my friend, who is in the PsychNP program right now, says that they give you very little time to get all these things (financial aid, physical, immunization, etc) accomplished. So get on it as soon as possible. I'm getting CPR certified tonight. ;)

JSBH, My acceptance came in the form of a large white envelope on Friday. I also live in California.

Thanks for your comments about the inexperienced RN worries... I have heard the same arguments that you mentioned. I'm just wondering...what if I want to work as an RN in some capacity at some point (I met an NP who simultaneously worked as an RN)? I might like to have that option, but I don't know if I can if I never get any experience as one. I might just be over thinking it. I really love SU's program. I just want to make sure I'm making the right decision.

I hope you get a big white envelope this week!!!

JSBH- Thank you SO much for your comments about the inexperienced issue. It made me feel a whole lot better, in fact :) I'm actually leaning more towards Seattle as each day passes. I really want to go to nursing school in my home state of WA, especially since I want to stay and practice here. And Seattle is a great school! I'm glad to hear you had a great interview. Always a plus! :) If you don't hear back soon I would suggest calling them and explaining your situation. I'm sure they'd understand. I know you really want to be here, so I'm wishing you the BEST of luck! And congrats on Samuel Merritt!!

Hi everyone!

This is my first post here. I found this thread a couple of days ago and wanted to say hello! I just got my letter of acceptance to the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track. Congratulations to everyone else!

I was accepted to OHSU accelerated bachelor's to master's program as well, and now it's decision time for me. Has anyone received any information about when we'll get our financial aid packets? I know that it may have a big influence on my decision! Anyone else deciding between OHSU and SU?

I live in Portland now but love Seattle as well.

You're so sweet. Thank you! I hope we get to be classmates.

I think it'd be great to be classmates! I'm very glad to have discovered this message board, gives me a really good feeling about the type of people I will hopefully be studying with everyday! June's coming up quick!
