Seattle U APNI - 2010 Entry

Published

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for Seattle U's APNI program. I thought I'd start a thread because it doesn't look like there is one, yet.

I think we're supposed to hear about interviews sometime soon. Has anyone gotten word, yet?

Specializes in Future PMHNP.

Hello everyone, Do any of the psych people that got accepted live in Seattle or are you all from another state? I am awaiting word and it is KILLING me. The mailbox has failed to produce a large white envelope for me, I figure since I live here in Seattle that must be a bad sign. So many psych people seem to have gained acceptance already and I know it must be reaching a limit for that specialty already. Right? Thoughts would be appreciated.:)

I interviewed on Feb. 12 for the FNP track with Dr. Jensen and Dr. Clark. I felt that it went well, but still no letter. I need a camera monitoring system on my mailbox so that I know when the USPS person comes by.

Amen to that! I need that as well...I call my roommate every day around 4 pm for her to check the mail, hehe, it is making me a little bit nutty:)

I also live in Seattle, and I was interviewed on February 18th. The psych number is going up, however it may depend when you were interviewed. At my interview I asked how many people are accepted into the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Track and they said around 10-15, but they were very vague, and also mentioned how many more people applied this year. I hope LARGE white envelopes are coming for all of us soon!

I guess the good news is that no one has been rejected yet. Some people will have more than one offer and may reject Seattle U, and that will open up a new spot. So acceptances could go on for a month or more.

I was told about 10 would be accepted to the Psych track. It used to be fewer. There are about 5 in the current 3rd year of the program, but they are accepting more now.

I too am from Seattle so if anyone has questions about what it is like to live here or about the SU campus, ask away.

Do any of you still have any pre-requisites to take? I have Anatomy and Math.

I was bored so I decided to summarize some of what we know:

What we know so far:

293 applicants; ~130 interviewed; 50 spots (according to PsychRN28).

10-15 PMHNP spots (according to a few posts).

I think I remember being told that there were 20 FNP spots. Can anyone confirm that?

No information about the number GNP or Midwifery spots so far.

All the FNP spots have not been filled. Marilee Jensen is in charge of the decisions for FNP. She's out sick at the moment so we'll be waiting a little longer. Thanks again for the info JSBH.

No information about whether all the PMHNP, GNP, and Midwifery spots have been filled.

Smile big if you see a big white envelope in your mailbox from Seattle University Graduate Admissions :D.

Sorry if I missed people. Again, good luck to everyone!

Quadruple-double, thanks for the great summary! Sheeesh we are so organized and on top of things, I think we are going to make a great class! They should just automatically accept anyone who has posted in this thread, dontcha think?

I took notes during my interview and this is what I wrote down:

--about 50 total would be accepted, and they expected the class to be 43-47 (based on previous yrs, not everyone accepting admission, or changing their minds at the last minute)

--about 25 of those accepted would be FNP

--usually they accept 5 Psych-NP, but this year would be 10-12, no more than 15

--8 would be Geriatric

Great summary quadruple-double! lets hope we can all meet each other in class this June!

Mailbox stalkers,

I am also playing the stalking game. I interviewed last week for the FNP track and am quite anxious for the envelope to arrive. I current live in Seattle. I got an acceptance from PLU in Tacoma a few weeks back. This past Saturday I received an interview invitation to Georgetown in DC.

Awaiting with baited-breath,

Eva..

Thanks for the summary above! Also did anyone else apply for the midwife track?

Yes, that summary is awesome. Thanks!

I think we're pretty accurate right now with info.

Congrats Averykm!!! That's awesome!

I was supposed to interview with Dr. Jensen, but she was in a meeting....

So, we're just waiting to hear about the next notification, that way we know she's back and making decisions.

I don't think we've heard about any geriatrics..are any of you applicants here for that program?

That is about twice as many psych people as last year, so that's great for you guys! I think in general they're taking more students. At least 20 FNPs for sure, so we don't have to get anxious yet. Although, I know we all are. :)

Keep us posted!

to those have been admitted...when are you required to give your reply by?
