Hey guys! I am creating this for Fall 2021 SDSU nursing applicants. We can make this a place where we can share our stats and answer any questions! My stats are:
Cumulative GPA: 4.0
Pre-reqs GPA: 4.0
TEAS: 82
I have work experience
I have 67 points, I'm kinda nervous, my TEAS isn't that good ?
@origamishark Yeah I've been wondering about that for the last couple months. You are on the waitlist also? and if so, may I ask how many points you have?

Yup, I'm on the waitlist. I have 67 points, wbu?

Yeah I also got 67 points. I've read around forums, and in 2018 only 5 waitlisted applicants were offered admittance. I emailed the school, and they said they admitted waitlisted applicants last year, but didn't the previous year. Hopefully everything works out for the both of us

Wow...that's crazy low for waitlist admits! I also emailed the school, but they told me the opposite. Last year they didn't admit anyone from the waiting list, but they did the year before that. I also hope everything works out ?
Hi all! I’m a second bachelor’s admit (74 points I think, 3.96+ prereq GPA, 3.9+ cumulative GPA, 97.3 TEAS, no work experience).
I was wondering if any other transfer / 2nd bacc admits have been having trouble getting their college transcripts sent? I sent my eTranscripts through Parchment 4 weeks ago but they haven’t been marked as received yet :(

Hi! I’m having the same problem. I sent my transcripts about 3 weeks ago and they haven’t been marked as received either. It’s making me a little nervous /:

Hi! I called the virtual admissions office last week because I submitted my transcript on March 13th and it wasn't updated. They told me that they were just swamped with transcripts and there wasn't anything to be worried about. (At that time, they said they were only caught up to transcripts sent before March 8th) Hope this helps!

Oh good! I visited the zoom virtual hours for the Office of Admission three days ago and they:
1) filed a troubleshoot report for the transcripts by asking for school name and confirmation #
2) said to give it a couple more weeks and to send new electronic transcripts before the May 1 deadline if I am still concerned
3) that May 1 is just the deadline to have the transcripts sent / postmarked.
One of my two missing transcripts was marked as ‘received’ on my portal yesterday, a little over 5 weeks after sending it! Still waiting for the other one. Thanks for your replies, friends ?

Is anyone else here trying to decide between SDSU and another program? I got into CSULB and I'm really struggling to choose. I posted over on that board as well to gain some insight, so I'm wondering what you guys think well!
Thanks!
I guess I’ll explain my thinking, even though I’m probably not in a similar situation ? (I personally don’t like the LA area, from my experience of it.)
I had to decide between SJSU, CSUSM, and SDSU as a 2nd bachelor CA-resident applicant. (That being said, at SDSU I’m not required to do GEs or the international experience requirement. Just nursing classes.)
One factor was cost: I live within commute distance to SJSU, so that would be the cheapest. SDSU tuition is the same, but I would have to move there and pay for housing. CSUSM is double the cost for tuition AND I would have to pay for housing. I kind of want to move anyway though. (I actually ended up not finishing my app to SJSU, even though I would’ve been accepted given my stats, cuz the application process and school admin themselves seemed so disorganized and confusing. It didn’t give me trust or enthusiasm in the program.)
Another factor was clinical locations: I don’t know what hospitals/etc SJSU is partnered with. SDSU is partnered with a lot of well-known hospitals in a relatively small radius (so commute time will be good). CSUSM partners with hospitals as far north as Riverside county and south as SD county (so commute time could be bad). I know for certain there are a lot of good job opportunities in SD too.
Another factor is location: I have friends in SD cuz I did my undergrad at a school down there. That means I can share housing with them for lower rent and for more social time. It also means I will live in an area I already know I like. The bus/trolley system is also GREAT down there, so not having a car to myself won’t be too big a problem (ie I can bus or have a friend chauffeur me).
Another factor is length: Though CSUSM would be fastest at 2 years, it would require summers (which I wanted to work during). SDSU is technically the longest at 3 years (no summers), but you have the option to accelerate it by one semester if you get approval (due to good grades your first year). I didn’t see a one semester difference as being really significant anyway (between 2.5-yr SJSU and 3-yr SDSU).
Other things I liked about SD were how response and helpful the advisors were, that there is opportunity to do two semesters of preceptorship, the campus, the ‘track’ class system, the clarity of applying / student portal things, the class schedule, and the age group (since there will likely be people close to or exactly my age). I’m 1000% not a party person, but I still like that the school seems social and has lots of clubs and sports. I don’t think it will be hard to make friends there.
I think that’s basically everything! Sorry for long response. I hope something here helped.
tl;Dr - I chose SDSU b/c location (and therefore distance to friends, clinicals, and fun), reliable and good academics, cohort age, and cost.

@Chanel Tsan Thank you. I did see a link to the admission letter in the message center in my portal but I couldn't open it. I emailed the admission department last week but they couldn't do anything to fix it. Hope everything is fine ?
